Holidays in North Carolina - What to do in NC

North Carolina has a plethora of vacation spots within the state. This state has beaches for the warm months and skiing for the cold months. This article will list some of the great vacation options within this state.


Beaches
The state has several great beaches including Wrightsville Beach,Carolina Beach and Emerald Isle. The must-stay hotel for Wrightsville Beach is the Holiday Inn Sunspree. Carolina Beach has a boardwalk with shops and restaurants.Visit the aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores while vacationing in Emerald Isle.


The Outer Banks
The Outer Banks located in the far eastern part of the state is home to the birth of flight and the Lost Colony. Visit the Bodie Island and Cape Hatteras lighthouses. Visit Kitty Hawk where the first plane was flown. See Roanoke Island where Sir Walter Raleigh attempted to establish the first English settlement.


Amusements
NC has fun play-cations for kids.  The Great Wolf Lodge in Concord and Wet 'n Wild in Greensboro are water parks.  Wet n Wild is a terrific place to cool off and splash during the warm months. Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor, year-round water park.  It has hotel rooms sized for families so it is a great weekend or overnight trip.


Carowinds is a large amusement park that features thrilling rollercoasters, fun rides for kids and plenty of games and concessions. One of the neat things about Carowinds is that spans two states - part of it is in North Carolina and the other part is in South Carolina.  This delineation is marked inside the park.


The Mountains
North Carolina has beautiful mountains. In the fall you can see the rich colors of the leaves changing.  In the summer you can find a refuge from the heat on higher ground. Go skiing at Appalachia Ski Mountain. Enjoy a luxurious vacation at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. Take a walk across the Mile High Swinging Bridge at the massive Grandfather mountain.


Shopping
Enjoy shopping at one of the states mega-malls or outlets.  The Streets at Southpoint, in Durham has stores and restaurants in an open air setting.  There is a Tanger Outlet center in Mebane. Concord Mills, located in Concord has over 200 stores and a Nascar themed amusement park.

North Carolina has a wide variety of vacation options. There are beaches, mountains and everthing in between.The diversity of the state affords a vacation suited to any desire. Residents of NC don't have to travel far in order to get away.
