What type of lighting to chose for driveway illumination?

Installing driveway lighting is a great way to illuminate your house and it's surrounding. Burglars just hate houses that have outdoor lighting, especially if they have motion detectors. Wired lighting is still the most popular option to use for your driveway because of several reasons. The most important reasons are that they are cheaper compared to your other options, they are very bright and you can use motion detectors on them. Motion detectors are connected to your lights and when motion is detected the outdoor lighting will start to work. This is a great way to spot movement around your house and will also cut expenses on your electricity bill.

Another very popular option is the use of solar lighting. People are more and more thinking about the environment and one way of doing that is by installing solar driveway lighting instead of the conventional wired lighting. Advantages are that they are very easy to install because you do not have to connect them to the electricity network. All they need is the sun to load their batteries which makes them able to illuminate all night. Disadvantages are that they do need sunlight in order to fill their batteries and the initial costs tend to be much higher than other options.

LED battery lights are yet another option but they are not so popular because they ask for maintenance. The batteries will only work for a certain amount of time and than you have to replace them in order to keep them working. They are cheaper than solar lighting but more expensive than wired lighting. There is also not a possibility to connect them to a motion detector.

What type of outdoor lighting you will need is dependent on several factors. If you want to illuminate your driveway, patio or garden all together than solar lighting might be a great choice, especially if you also like the aesthetics of it. But if you really need some bright lights than this will not work with solar light and you will need wired lighting or battery LED lighting. Off course your budget is also an important factor which decides what option you will choose.
