Where To Buy Tokidoki Bags
The word "tokidoki" means "sometimes" in Japanese. If that seems like an odd name for a Japanese company to give their product, it's because Tokidoki bags aren't really Japanese products at all. They are actually a product manufactured by an Italian designer, Simone Legno, who says they are "inspired by a Japanese lifestyle." The bags are fairly straightforward designs, and only the colorful print sets them apart from any other handbag. The brand came into being in 2005, when the newly formed Tokidoki collaborated with LeSportsac and released a line of handbags with collectible prints. This line of handbags is highly collectible and is currently sold on second-hand markets for many times the original sales price. There are six main characters found in print on Tokidoki bags. The Cactus Friends was the initial design used on LeSportsac bags, along with The Moofia. Adios and Ciao-Ciao, representing the Grim Reaper and his girlfriend, are another popular design. There are also Skeletrino and Skeletrina, Bruttino and Carina, and the Captain Coco series.
The Tokidoki product line has grown into a high-end urban fashion trend which encompasses not only bags but also t-shirts, jewelry, shoes, outerwear, vinyl figures and small toys. The bags are especially popular and can be seen clutched on the arms or shoulders of many famous celebrities. The bags can be purchased directly from the manufacturer's website at anywhere from $100 to $500, depending on the print and bag style, but as mentioned the earlier designs are highly collectible and often sell for many times the original price. Bags are available as handbags, purses, messenger bags, cosmetics bags, backpacks and handbag-wallets. The bags are marketed in color schemes according to the prints, with names such as astronauta, fantasma, mimetic, pegaso, stella near and stellina near. These are not the names of the prints, but the names designated for the various color schemes.
