Where To Find Free Stuff Online Using Craigslist

By Edited Jun 4, 2014 0 0

If you are looking for free stuff online there are a couple of really good places to start. This is what I did when I had to furnish my flat during my student days. I was living in Germany and tried to rent a furnished room but everything was either too expensive or the room was too far away from civilization. If you are new in town like I was, you want to be living as close to the city centre as possible.

So I found my room and I needed furniture but I didn't want to spend too much money on things that I wouldn't be taking home. I had already asked a couple of friends and work colleagues if they had anything that they didn't want. I did quite well out of it. I got little bits and pieces. I did need to find a bed.

Free Stuff on Craigslist Classifieds

I was informed by a friend that a lot of people need to get rid off stuff and are will to offer it for free so that they don't have to worry about getting these things to the city dump or recycling centre. All these ads just want people to come and collect the items on offer.

I looked on Craigslist and found a sofa bed for free. It was very old fashioned but it folded out into a double size bed. The thing with Craigslist is that you have to be really quick to get in touch with the people offering their stuff. I missed out on a lot of free beds because I didn't log on in time. However, I managed to secure this bed and a very generous friend drove me to collect the sofa bed.

We ended up at this apartment building and the sofa bed was on the top floor, naturally. There was a lift but the thing was to big and bulky to fit inside so we had to carry it down 5 floors. This is the reason that people advertise their free stuff on Craigslist or on Gumtree. They don't want the hassle of dragging old fashioned furniture.

Anyway, we finally got the sofa bed back to my room and I can say that I was very happy with my free bed. I stay in my apartment room for 6 months so it was definitely worth it. After my 6 months were up and I was ready to return home to England, I simply advertised my sofa bed on Craigslist so that some other person had the responsibility of getting it out of the room and got the use of the bed too.

So if you are looking for free stuff, check out websites online to see if you can find something you need within your area. If you want you could even collect it then sell it yourself on another website to make a little bit of profit for yourself.
