List of Organizations for Holiday Help

If you are looking for help for the holidays, it’s important to know how to sign up for Christmas charity assistance.  You’ll find all kinds of programs that can help you get by during the season and provide gifts for kids in low income families that might be missed otherwise.  If you need help, try any of these great programs and charitable organizations to find the assistance you need to make the holidays great for you and your whole family.

  • The Angel Tree

Both the Prison Fellowship Program and the Salvation Army have Angel Tree programs where you can sign up children to receive gifts.  Each program is unique.  The Prison Fellowship Program offers children presents and the word of the gospel when one parent or guardian is incarcerated in prison or jail.   The Salvation Army is a need based Christmas charity where you can sign up for gifts for low income children and families.  You can learn more about how to enroll in the Angel Tree programs and see if they work for you.

  • Toys for Tots

You can sign up for Toys for Tots and get some nice gifts for underprivileged children.  It’s a great Christmas charity that has become very popular this year.  When you register, you’ll need to meet some income restrictions and guidelines.  Given the current state of the economy, there’s a good chance that many people will register and enroll in these programs, so you may want to enroll early to ensure your place with the organization.  The Marine Corps does a great job with this program each year.

  • Operation Christmas Child

This is a great charity that you can sign up for.  Each year, people put together a shoebox of toys or other gifts and include a letter to the child that will receive the package.  It’s a religious organization and the word of Jesus Christ is spread through the letter and messages attached to the shoebox of gifts.

  • My Two Front Teeth

Through a partnership with the Family Giving Tree organization, My Two Front Teeth allows donors to select from a gift wish of a needy child.  Most are under $25, so the program has become very popular.  Your children may be able to sign up for this great charity and get some assistance with Christmas presents this year.

  • Christmas SPIRIT Foundation

They are a public charity and offer Christmas help to needy children and households in the United States.  They have a great program, trees for troops, which offer trees to families with one parent in the military.  It’s a great organization where people can sign up for assistance at the holiday season.

  • Make A Wish

It’s hard to argue with any charity that provides assistance to children with terminal illness or disease.  If you or someone you know is suffering from such a medical condition, they can sign up for a wish this Christmas through the refer a child program at Make a Wish.  The age limits for this program are 2 ½ through 17 years old.

  • Local Toy Drives

Many local businesses, civic groups, and churches do their own form of Christmas help for the poor and needy families in their area.  Simply make some phone calls or do some in-person networking to see what’s out there for you to choose from.   You can often sign up with many of the charities in your area, hoping to qualify for at least one of the assistance programs offered locally.

  • Food Pantries

Many local food pantries will allow you to sign up for extra donations of food at Christmas.  Charities like this one are well known for providing a great holiday meal to low income families and those that cannot afford to put together a great meal on their limited incomes.

These are just some of the places to sign up for Christmas charity assistance.
