Where You Should Place Home Theater Speakers

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Home theater systems can give you the experience of a movie theatre in the comfort of your own home. Combine these systems with a large flat panel television and a Blueray dvd player, and you will be the envy of all your friends and family. When you are looking to buy and install a home theater system, it is important to consider the speakers and their placement in the room for the best possible sounds.

There are five types of speakers that make up a home theatre system. Namely, they are the left and right speakers at the front, the center channel speaker, subwoofers and the rear surround sound speakers.

Center Channel Speaker

This speaker carried the dialog of the movie and the majority of the soundtrack. It is best to place this speaker close to the center of the television or projector screen. This can be just above or below the television.

Front Left and Right Speakers

These speakers - as the names suggest - should be placed on either side of the television. It is important that the speakers are equal distance apart; otherwise the sound will be off. Further, the distance from your viewing spot should be the same as for your center channel speaker.

Surround Speakers

Your surround sound speakers should be place to the side and slightly behind where you are seated. If you have a 6.1 or 7.1 channel system then these speakers should be mounted on the back wall.

Sub woofer

Unlike the other speakers outlined above, you can place the sub woofer in any position. However, you should experiment with the exact position to determine the best position for the room you are in.

The Different Types of Home Theater Speakers

You will find that there is a wide range of different speakers that you can use. Floor speakers and book end speakers are popular. Gaining in popularity are wireless stereo speakers. These speakers have no cords and the sound is transmitted through the air via a radio signal to the speakers. Many people also choose to use these types of speakers as a wireless outdoor speaker system.
