Where to Find the Best Price on Treadmills

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

If you're considering purchasing some exercise equipment for use at home you may want to shop around first. Buying exercise equipment brand new can be a costly investment. In addition if you're considering getting an exercise machine of some type such as a rowing machine or treadmill, they are quite large and not easily returned. A treadmill can be a very good investment if purchased brand new, but you should still do some comparison pricing to find the right machine to fit your needs.

Electric treadmills are the most popular type of treadmill used today. They offer a front console with programmable features such as speed and distance. The Merit 735T electric treadmill retails for about $500. The machine comes with 10 preprogrammed workout programs and can reach a maximum speed of 10 mph. Nordic Track also offers a line of treadmills ranging in price from $2,000 to $750. The Nordic Track Elite Pro 9500 comes complete with its own full feature music system. In addition to the electronic readouts for distance, speed heart rate and so on, the system's console unit has workout card technology that allow the user to incorporate their ipod into the system to receive high end sound through speakers and a subwoofer.

The lower priced A2350 model treadmill from Nordic Track also offers a console which allows you to plug in your ipod or MP3 player to receive sound through the console. This eliminates the need to wear headphones while working out if you enjoy listening to music. The treadmill retails for $750 online. Another company known for manufacturing exercise equipment is Weslo. Often you will find this brand carried by major department stores. The Weslo Cadence 55 is an electronic treadmill that offers the power of a 2.0 horsepower engine. It has a 3 position incline and retails for around $400 online.

As an alternative to electric treadmills you can also purchase manual treadmills. These treadmills don't have a motor to power the belt, but relay on the individual's own pace to keep the belt moving in a forward motion. Weslo makes the Cardio Stride Plus which is a manually propelled treadmill that retails for about $250. When deciding on the type of treadmill to purchase you may also want to consider the size of the treadmill itself. You need to have enough available space to accommodate a treadmill without cramping your exercise routine.

Many of the higher priced electric treadmills come with a folding feature that allows you to store the unit against the wall or under the bed. The simpler manual treadmills also come with digital displays for speed, distance and heart rate. You can also choose to purchase a used machine either by searching auction sites online or through your local classifieds. It is best to try out a used machine before deciding to purchase as often there may be parts that need to be replaced. As another cardio option, try working out on an air rowing machine. Your healt is worth it.
