Most parents know that eventually you are going to need to find outside childcare options for your family. Finding babysitters or nannies can be a stressful situation for parents as you want to be sure you are leaving your kids in competent hands. This stress can be eased a bit if you know where to search for childcare options. No matter where you live, here are some places you should check out if you are looking for a childcare provider for your family:

Church: Ask around at your church if anyone knows of a good childcare provider. Many times there are people within your congregation that are willing to provide childcare or know someone who would be a great childcare provider for you. There is also the option of putting your childcare needs in your church bulletin. Simply talk to the church secretary to see if there is a chance of you getting your needs printed in the bulletin on Sundays.

Local schools and colleges:  Typically students make great childcare options as they are usually available a lot of weekends and evenings. They are also usually in the mood to make some money so they will be very interested in being a babysitter for your family. You can visit schools and campuses to talk to teachers or to students about potential childcare jobs. Bulletin boards typically exist all around schools so it wouldn’t hurt to put up an ad on one just make sure you approve it with administration first.

Family and Friends: Don’t overlook the options that are right in front of you. Sometimes friends and families are more than willing to provide childcare for your family. Granted these options may not available all the time, but if you are in a pinch be sure you talk to your friends and family. Another great thing to ask friends and family is for any recommendations they may have for quality childcare options in your area. Recommendations from family and friends are great as they usually recommend quality people who have already been proven to be good childcare providers.


Babysitters need to have experience with children.

The Classified Section of the Newspaper:  A great resource for finding childcare options for your family is your local newspaper. The classified section of the newspaper generally has an entire area devoted to childcare, so be sure to check this section out. There are generally a lot of day care options available, so this is great if that is what you are looking for. There are also generally some more specific childcare ads that may fit your needs.  A newspaper is also a great place for you take out an ad for your childcare needs. This will cost you some money, but it will allow the candidates to come to you rather than you having to seek them out individually.

Online Agencies:  We live in a world today that relies heavily on technology, which is great if you are looking for some childcare options. There are many online babysitting agencies out there that can help you find some quality and competent childcare for your family. These agencies, such as College Nannies and Tutors, take a lot of the headache away from finding childcare as they do a lot of the groundwork of finding the sitters. These agencies find sitters and put them through interviews, reference checks, and background checks so you can be sure that you are getting someone who is qualified and competent to be handling your children. One thing to know is that since these agencies do all this work for you that there is generally going to be a fee applied when you sign up with them. However it does make it easier on you as all you have to do is tell them what your needs are and they will match you up with potential childcare options.

Bulletin Boards: You would be surprised how big of a resource bulletin boards can be for a parent trying to find childcare for their family. Bulletin boards are found everywhere from your grocery stores to your local restaurants to your post office, and they are generally a great way for you to find childcare. You can find ads for people wanting babysitting jobs or you can post an ad for a childcare provider. The best thing about bulletin boards is that they are generally free for you to use, which is awesome if you are looking to find childcare options cheaply.

No matter where you find your childcare options, be sure that you interview and perform background checks on anyone you hire to make sure that your kids are going to be left in qualified and competent hands.
