In this article we are going to compare two Panasonic Lumix models: Panasonic
Lumix DMC FZ45 and Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS7 / TZ10. This is intended to be a
comparison between the two models that’s why we are not going to go into detail about the characteristics of both cameras.

Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ45
Some of the features of this camera are 14.1 megapixel, 3.0 inch TFT LCD Display,
LEICA DC Lens with 25mm Wide-angle and 24x Optical Zoom. A Built-in Memory of
40 Mb lets you take some photos if you don’t have any SD card at hand. The Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ45 macro performance is amazing and its night photograph is excellent. This camera features a high magnification optical 24x zoom lens that is non-interchangeable. When taking RAW images the camera becomes very slow. Attempting to shoot two quick consecutive frames in RAW mode can be difficult for the camera. A good part of Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ45 is the Continuous Shooting Speed of 5 frames per second. It starts up and is ready to take photos in less than two seconds and shuts down very quickly.
Which Panasonic Lumix is better? DMC TZ10/ZS7 vs DMC FZ45Credit:
In ISO 800 the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ45 shows quite visible noise and ISO 1600 is even noisier. At ISO 800 the noise reduction blurs out
almost all fine detail. It is important to note that the camera does not include a HDMI
cable. Although it is not big, it is not a compact camera. A viewfinder is useful to save
battery life because the screen can be turned off but the viewfinder of this camera is
not very good. It has a 3.0-inch 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD.

Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS7 / TZ10
With a 12x optical zoom, a 3.0-inch 460,000-dot Intelligent LCD and a GPS. The
battery is very good: you can make up to 350 photos without charging. The GPS
pinpoints the location of your photos and ensures the clock always tells the right time. It
packs a super-zoom lens range into a quite compact camera. It has 12.1 Megapixel of
effective resolution and manual controls. The camera accepts the SDXC memory card
format that allows support cards bigger than 32 Gigabytes.

Take into account that motion jpeg files are restricted to 2GB in size. This means that,
on the highest quality mode, the video clips will have a maximum recording time of 8
minutes and 20 seconds each. The GPS is ok but it uses a lot of battery power. Don’t
buy it if you are interested in shooting in RAW format, because it does not have
this feature.

If you are from Europe, remember that there is an important disadvantage for the European models of this cameras: its maximum recording time is of 29 minutes and 59 seconds per file to comply with tax regulations.
