Whimsical Garden Decorating Styles

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 1 | |

Liven up that garden with fun, silly, whimsical and colorful garden décor that can be fun to organize in your garden and even fun to look at each time you see it. Wouldn't it be great to see something every day when you leave for work that brings a smile to your face? What could possibly do this? How about some goofy pink flamingos dressed for the season or holiday? Ever see a Santa flamingo? It will definitely make you smile.

There are garden stakes of butterflies, dragonflies, flowers and weird creatures that can be breathtaking or silly. They can carry the color theme throughout the garden or become a great conversation starter with that new neighbor. Planters in the shape of dogs and cats with silly facial expressions are available in metal. Plastic and ceramic planters that look like big, colorful frogs, pigs, turtles and even bugs can create quite a buzz at a garden party. Ouch, that one hurt!

But speaking of garden parties, without the right garden decorations any event in your garden could be a disaster. A garden should be balanced in color, size and theme. Some contrast can be eye catching and offer the viewer a little brain stimulation after an array of small plants or flower beds. Mostly, the garden decor should be relaxing to the eye and the body providing space to wander and to sit and reflect on the beauty you have just seen.

Make the garden a family space complete with a kid's play area containing colorful interlocking mats. These mats come in sets of 4 and up in a variety of colors or with pictures of trademark characters on them. They are fairly inexpensive at most larger department stores. A lounge area with a covered bench and fluffy pillows offers a space for grown up guests to relax and chat while still being able to keep an eye on the little ones.

Basing your garden décor on a hobby or personal collection can be rewarding and offer years of enjoyment. A nautical theme in the city would be novel and challenging to accomplish. Perhaps an old wood boat could become a planter for colorful flowers with just a little effort. Garden stakes of sea gulls and sea shells can carry the theme throughout the garden. Colorful sails could be made into shade sails offering comfort and color. A garden is an extension of you at your finest.
