Ever watch an old movie or TV show and wonder what ever happened to that actor? Or have you watched a new show and recognise an actress that seems to have disappeared for years?

This happens to me a lot, and thanks to imdb.com it is usually very easy to find out when you recognise a face but can't quite remember where from. Here is a list of actors and actresses where I was just too curious to not find out about them. Sometimes there are sad stories where the person died years ago, other times they were only ever involved in one movie and then went off to do something else. But thanks to the wonders of the Internet it is usually easy enough to find out something about these forgotten actors.

Newt from Aliens

Aliens is in my opinion a  SciFi classic, and a film I dig out and watch every couple of years. The movie stars Sigourney Weaver with a little girl named Newt and takes place on a spaceship that has been invaded by alien monster like creatures that are breeding.

For some reason, the last time I watched the movie I got the urge to find out what had become of the little girl. As it turns out IMDB had some of the information. Newt was played by a girl named Carrie Henn, who apparently had never done any acting and never did any more acting after that, despite a great performance in this movie. According to this link, she is now a teacher in California.

The mother from Raising Hope

Many of you may have followed the TV series called "Raising Hope". It is quite a funny comedy series about a family where the teenage son ends up being a single dad because the mother of the child ended up on death row. I know, my first reaction was how crazy is that story, but I really enjoyed the show.

Anyway, about half way into the second season I couldn't help but wonder where I had seen the actress that plays the mother before. The character's name in the show is Virginia and the actress is called Martha Plimpton. A quick look on IMDB revealed her Hollywood history and I couldn't believe that she was in one of my childhood favourite movies called "The Goonies".

Biff from Back To The Future

This is another all time favourite of mine. Many people name big Oscar winners from the past when asked about their favourite movies, but I think this one should rank high on everyone's list. The movie is about the main character Marty McFly, played by Michael J Fox, who manages to travel back and forward in time using a crazy scientists time travelling car. I read somewhere recently that in the movie Marty travels forward to 2012, and there are scenes of very futuristic things like hover boards (skateboards without wheels); just as well I dodn't get my hopes up for one of those.

The movie also features the bad guy called Biff Tannen, played by actor Thomas Wilson, who today doesn't look anything like he did in the 1985 movie. He did have quite a movie and TV career, which apparently included the voice for characters in SpongeBab SquarePants.

Sonny from The Godfather

Many lists of greatest movies of all time include this Francis Ford Coppola masterpiece from 1972. starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and many more. The first in a series of 3 movies, the story is about the Italian Mafia in New York and how one family don, Vito Corleone, played by Brando, came to America and then to power.

Because it is such an old movie a lot of the characters look very different to today, which makes it difficult to recognise them. Sonny is Vito Corleone's eldest son and played by James Caan, who also has enjoyed a long acting career. To my surprise, he played the character Walter in the comedy movie Elf.

Face from The A-Team

If you are male and grew up in the eighties, chances are you were glued to The A-Team. It was an action TV show in which a group of four men were on the run from the military police for apparently having robbed a bank while deployed with the military in Vietnam.

In each episode the four men take on cases of injustice where some criminal or corrupt organisation oppresses the little guy. Through various stages of ingenuity the four men inadvertently end up in a situation where they have weld together vehicles and weapons to take care of the bad guys. Usually ending up in a hail of bullets, I don't think anybody, even the bad guys, ever get more than a few bruises.

One of the characters is smooth womaniser with the nickname Face, or Faceman, who is played by Dirk Benedict. What I would never have guessed, is that Benedict had a scene in the 2010 movie The A-Team, in one of the prison scenes and is referenced as Pensacola Prisoner Milt.

Damien from The Omen

The movie is essentially about a child character named Damien who is the source of many very horrible things happening to people around the very wealthy family he was born into. Played by Harvey Stephens, it turns out that Damien is some sort of incarnation of the devil, who can make animals and humans behave in a very strange and often deadly way.

It turns out that Stephens only featured in 2 movies after the 1976 classic, one 1980 movie called Gauguin the Savage, which I am not familiar with, and then surprisingly he plays a side role as a reporter in the 2006 remake of The Omen. So, if happen to see the remake, keep an eye on any reporters.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

This is another one of James Cameron's great movies, that most people should be familiar with, as they are still making sequels; is it number 4 or 5 at this stage? Anyway, ne of the main characters in the movie is a teenage, somewhat delinquent boy named John Connor and played by Edward Furlong.

It seems like Furlong has also enjoyed a great career, which includes TV shows like CSI and movies like American History X. Looks like I need to keep my eyes open a bit more, as it hadn't even dawned on my that John Connor and the kid in American History X were the same actor.

C from A Bronx Tale

In this gangster movies with Robert De Niro and Chazz Palinteri the story is about a family living in the Bronx and their struggle with keeping their son away from crime. The son is nicknamed C and is played by actor Lillo Brancato, who also went on to appear in TV shows like The Sopranos.

Unfortunately for Brancato, things turned considerably for the worse starting with arrests for drug possession. In 2005 he was arrested with his girlfriend's father, Steven Armento, after a police shootout that resulted in the death of the police officer and the two accused with multiple gunshot wounds. In 2008 Armento was convicted or murder and sentenced to life in prison, while Brancato was convicted of in 2009 for attempted burglary resulting in a 10 year prison sentence. How life can change!
