Why A Fountain Pen Is Better

By | 1 Comments | Rating: 1 | |

The popular view is that using a fountain pen is too difficult for the ordinary person and that it is prone to leaking and smudging. This theory usually comes from someone who has never used a fountain pen before. The truth is that fountain pens are much easier to use than most other pens because the ink flows easily from the nib of a fountain pen. but smooth writing is only one of the reasons why the fountain pen is better than other pens.

A big reason is an environmental reason. There are millions of plastic disposable pens produced every year and they are simply tossed into the trash when they run out of ink. That's a lot of plastic tubes being thrown in the garbage. When you buy a fountain pen it is usually good for life barring an unfortunate accident. When a fountain pen runs out of ink you simply refill it. The Parker 51 fountain pen that was bought back in 1936 would still be in good working order and providing good service today.

Through the use of different external designs, materials and colors the fountain pen has become a highly desirable object for its decorative appeal. Indeed, there are some lovely looking fountain pens in existence and it is for this reason they are so very popular among collectors.

The nib of a fountain pen is a part of the pen that can be interchanged to suit your personal preference. Nibs come in a range of varying widths so you can choose to buy a particular pen with a fine nib while someone else may buy the same make of pen, but with a double broad nib. Everyone can enjoy the same type of pen regardless of their preference in line width.

Ballpoint pens have a tendency to skip while you are using them It doesn't seem to matter that ballpoint pens are the result of the latest modern technology, every now and then they skip while delivering ink to the page. This is something that doesn't happen with a fountain pen. In fact you don't have to apply heavy pressure to the pen in order to produce a solid and consistent line of ink. As the pen moves across the page the ink will continue to flow smoothly.

The only danger in using a fountain pen is that once you do you won't want to go back to using any other kind of pen.

I used a fountain pen long ago and forget what happened to it, I did love it. Great reminder article for me to get a new one;)
