Why Do I Need a Vehicle Extended Warranty?

By Edited Feb 7, 2016 0 1

Every time you purchase a new vehicle, it comes with just a basic warranty coming from the manufacturer. The warranty states that the manufacturer will offer free repair or replacement on some parts in case it encounters some mechanical malfunction in the future. However, this particular agreement is only good for a short period of time, or for a certain amount of mileage only. Therefore, once the warranty expires, you have nothing to protect your car in case it breaks down again. In this case, you will be left with no choice but to pay for very expensive vehicle repairs. This is basically the reason why you need to get your vehicle an extended warranty.

An extended car warranty is an agreement between you and a certain car repair service provider. These are auto warranties that people get in order to shield themselves from those very expensive auto repair costs resulting from a mechanical breakdown or failure of their vehicle. Keep in mind though that a vehicle extended warranty does not necessarily replace the original warranty that you have obtained from the company where you bought the vehicle from. Instead, it is intended to make available another level of coverage that's right for you.

The main advantage of getting an extended car warranty is to avoid those very expensive costs of automobile repairs, but there are some plans that may also come with additional benefits. It is therefore, very important that not only you understood the coverage being offered but you also have to be aware about the added benefits that you will get out of that plan. Most of the time, an extended warranty coverage will pay for both parts replacement as well as the labor required on covered mechanical systems of your vehicle. Furthermore, most extended warranties would also have an on-site inspection in each year of coverage, and this is to optimize equipment performance and to look after the condition of your car. Some would also provide expert advice on the vehicle operation's best practices.

To purchase an extended warranty, you may check on some insurance companies online. There are a lot of them on various websites, and you may even ask for a free quote from them. And if you are satisfied with their quote, and wanted to buy it, you may give them your card info, as most of them accepts credit and debit card payments. All orders will then be processed automatically.

There are also some warranty companies that may require some inspection on used cars before selling you a vehicle extended warranty. This is to make sure that your vehicle does not have any pre-existing mechanical conditions. They would usually send a car inspector in your place in order to take a look at your car. Once your car passes the screening, then that's when they sell you the warranty. Although this may sometimes cause inconvenience on your part, but it is definitely worth the effort to get your car covered, and in case your car malfunctions, they cannot deny that it has an existing condition before you had it warranted.
