Why Do You Think People Do Sports

I was thinking the other day, while I was running, why do people do sports. I don't know why I thought about that, but I found it interesting, because people have different reasons to do sports. Some of them are more important than the others. I for example do sports and exersising simply because I want to be fit and be in great shape.

I found six main reasons that people do sports. So why do people do sports?

People do sports for recreation, beautiful body, loosing weight, improving their health, because their job is to be fit or beauitiful (professional boxer or a model) and because they like sports and have nothing else to do. Lets break those six a little.

1. Recreation

A lot of people take recreation as their way of doing sports simply because it takes them away from their daily problems. It's almost like you are in your own world. It lets you forget all the problems you have at home at work or wheresoever. So basicly, I think the goal or the purpose of the recreational exersise is that you get rid of the stress, so that when you come back home you feel different in a positive way, you feel better.

2. Beautiful body

Aaa the beautiful body. It makes me think that no matter what your purpose or goal is when it comes to my question why do people do sports, deep down in peoples minds there is always that glance of hope that by exercising and doing sports they will look better no matter the goal. So if you want to look good that is actualy one of the best motivators to achieve your goal. A lot of people are preparing for summer, where everybody is in ther swimsuits and of course everybody wants to be beautiful.

3. Loosing weight

Loosing weight is very important. It's directly connected to your health. Maybe you're asking why did I separate loosing weight and improving health. Well, that is because these are two different things and people have different mindsets about those two things. People choose to lose weight because of many different reasons. They might nof feel good in ther skin, maybe they are ashamed of them selfs when they show in public, maybe they just want to look nice or they want somebody to like them. But what is very important is this. When you choose loosing weight as you main goal, you're actualy working on other importants things and you might not even know about them, such as getting in great shape, you're positively influencing on you're health, you're actualy working on looking better...

4. Improving their health

Did you ever asked your self, why am I feeling so bad, why am I having a headache or anything else that makes you feel not good. Well, it just might be the reason that you don't do enough for your self, you don't exercise enough. If that is the case you should definitely go out and do some jogging if not anything else. I guarantee you that you will improve your health and feel better.

I wanted to mention something else. Health is the main concern to some of the people when it comes to sport. I actualy have (had actualy, because he is skinny now) and overweight friend that went to doctor because he was dizzy a lot. The doctor said he should exercise regulary, lose some weight and over time he would feel better. Because my friend is smart, he took doctors advice seriously and now he is in great shape.

5. Job that you have to be fit or beautiful

Yes, some people have to be fit and/or beautiful in orther for them to have a job that they have. Let me give you an example. A boxer has to be physicaly prepared as much as he can possibly be, or he will get knocked out in the ring (probably). A model has to be skinny and beautiful to have a job. She or he can't have a job as a model if they are fat. I could go with these examples all day, but I think you get my point.

6. Nothing else to do

I put this one here because it happens to me sometimes. Sometimes, I don't know what to do with my self, so I go out in the nature or I put my jog shoes on and go for a run. How about you?

To summ up everything. I think that people do sports mainly from these reasons above. There are probably a lot more reasons, but these are those most common. How about you, in which category would you put yourself in and what do you think, why do people do sports?

My first article :) these stuff just popped out of my mind. I just wanted to write something. Hope I'll get better with time .. heh ..
