Why Sea World Is The Best Theme Park For Children and Families On The Gold Coast

By Edited May 9, 2015 0 0

The beautiful Gold Coast in South East Queensland is Australia's favourite family holiday destination. With its abundance of theme parks, sparkling year round weather and golden beaches, there is no better destination to bring the family for that magical vacation. Sea World is the best of the Gold Coast theme parks for families and kids, with wonders to delight toddlers through to young adults while maintaining plenty of offerings for adults, thrill seekers and grand parents.

Seaworld has the Best Kid Friendly Rides and Attractions

No other Gold Coast theme park has a higher percentage of rides and attractions aimed squarely at children under the age of 12 than Sea World. Where Dreamworld has aimed to capture the teenager and young adult market with their abundance of high octane rides, Seaworld has stayed true to its family friendly ethos by offering an array of fun rides, shows and attractions to delight and captivate the entire family.

Sesame Street Beach

Opening in 2007, Sesame Street beach is a multi-million dollar Sesame Street land catering especially for kids. A large, dedicated area, children can meet and play with their favourite Sesame Street friends including Grover, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Bert & Ernie and of course, Elmo! Sesame Street Beach includes newly themed rides perfect for all but the youngest children including; Bert and Ernie's Big Dive; Oscar's Sweep the Beach; Elmo's Sea Subs; Big Bird Bounce; Zoe's Sub Splash; and The Cookie Monster Cup Carousel. While at Sesame Street Beach don't miss Sea World's newest stage show extravaganza; Bert & Ernie's Island Holiday, featuring a full cast of your children's favourite characters singing and dancing. Beyond the rides and shows, this area of the theme park provides plenty of interactive elements and hidden surprises to keep your kids entertained for hours.

Castaway Bay

If you can drag your children away from Elmo they will have a ball in Sea World's newest addition, Castaway Bay. Opened in September 2010 with a price-tag in excess of $6 million, this new area has quickly become a must do attraction for Gold Coast holiday makers. The centrepiece of the land is Battle Boats, a shipwreck-themed ride that is perfect for the entire family. Riders board one of the eight boats before proceeding to fire water from their cannons at the other boats as they make their way around the specially designed track. With over 80 water cannons littered throughout the adventure, Battle Boats is the perfect way for the whole family to escape the Queensland heat. If your child has any energy left, Castaway Bay features Sky Fortress a 5-story tall adventure playground containing a variety of tunnels, slides and rope bridges.

Shows and Activities

The rides are only part of the Sea World story. The park is famous world over for it collection of marine animals, each supported by its own amazingly crafted habitats.

Dolphins – Imagine Dolphin Experience Show at Dolphin Cove

Sea World is a world leader in dolphin breeding, conservation, training and rehabilitation. They bring all of this skill and knowledge together in the most spectacular dolphin show in the country. Your children will be delighted as they see the grace, beauty and agility of these wonderful animals in the tranquil lagoons of Dolphin Cove while learning fascinating facts about these majestic creatures and Seaworld's breeding and conservation efforts from the trainers. No one will miss a second of the action sitting in the custom 2500 seat undercover stadium. Outside of show times, your children can get up close and personal to Sea World's youngest dolphins in their dedicated nursery pool as they grow and learn to play under the watchful guidance of their protective mothers.

Polar Bears at Polar Bears Shores

Australia's only polar bear exhibit, Polar Bears Shores opened to rave reviews and record crowds in 2001. With a custom built, multi-storey, climate controlled environment, the three resident polar bears are viewable from three platforms, one above ground level, one at ground level and one below the water level, to give the best appreciation of these magnificent and endangered animals. Children will marvel at just how large these polar bears are and will be able to see in crystal clear clarity them swimming, playing and having fun in the Queensland sun. Sea World may be world famous for their dolphins but it is almost certain that the polar bears will capture your kid's hearts.

Sharks, Penguins, Rays – Oh My!

Sea World Theme Park has some of the largest aquariums in the southern hemisphere. Shark Bay is a dedicated area focussing on the most fascinating creatures of the deep. Penguins are heavily showcased in the newly constructed Penguin Point and adults and children can touch starfish and stingrays in dedicated exhibits.

Pirates Unleashed

Utilizing SeaWorld's main lagoon, Pirates Unleashed is a spectacular jetski show as two groups of battle for supremacy of the high seas. Flanked by Sea World's historic pirate ship and featuring breathtaking stunts and acrobatics, your family can enjoy their lunch and not miss a second of the action in the stadium seating.

Sea World Monorail

Taking your children on a ride on Australia's oldest and longest running monorail system is not only a great way to see the park from a different perspective, it is the perfect way to get from one end of the park to the other when those little legs are too tired to carry on after experiencing all of the adventure that Sea World has to offer.

Central Gold Coast Location

Unlike the other major Gold Coast that are located well to the west of the tourist strip, Seaworld has a central sea side location just minutes north of Surfers Paradise and Broadwater. Having your tired family back to your accommodation quickly and without fighting the urban traffic sprawl is the perfect way to end the family's big day exploring the Gold Coast's best theme park.

These are just the highlights that make Sea World the best Gold Coast for children and families. Seaworld has even more to offer, with high-octane roller coasters and flume rides for the thrill seekers, 4D theatre presentations based off the Happy Feet movie franchise and many more offerings, both large and small, that will have your family looking forward to a return trip to Sea World in the future.
