There are dozens and dozens of hotels and resorts ringing the caldera of Santorini and while there are many standout resorts, the Tholos Resort in Imerovigli is the ultimate Santorini resort. The Tholos Resort is not the fanciest resort in Santorini and this guide is not trying to find that. Instead, the Tholos simply provides the best experience one can have while staying in Santorini.

First, the Tholos Resort is located in Imerovigli, a small village north of the popular Thira. Imerovigli literally hangs on to the cliffside and most of the village's streets are quiet and lined with hotels, hostels, and resorts such as the Tholos. The best thing about Imerovigli is simply, the breathtaking, expansive views you have of the Santorini caldera. From your hotel room in Tholos, you can see the entire caldera, from Thira to Oia to the small island in the center. The views are unobstructed and some of the best views you can get of the caldera anywhere.

Second, the Tholos Resort has a wonderful, international staff that was the most helpful and friendly staff we have ever experienced. Practically anything you want is at your disposal and they go out of their way to make sure you enjoy every moment on Santorini. Breakfast was delivered every morning by our Polish chef and served on our balcony as we enjoyed the sun rising over the Aegean.

Third, the Tholos Resort's price is right. There are many other resorts in Imerovigli

Santorini, but the Tholos was priced in the mid-tier while having all the luxuries of a first class resort. The Tholos has a pool deck perched on the cliff and you can drink your beer from the pool while looking at the view above. The rooms in the hotel are large, clean, and very comfortable - the furniture was more traditional than modern and blended in with the cliffside surroundings of the Tholos.

Last, and I mentioned this in the beginning is the view. You can literally sit on the resort's pool deck or your balcony for hours staring at the view above. It never gets boring and its changing as the sun moves across the sky. Many tourists line up in Oia to watch the sunset but you have as good a view of the famous Santorini sunset from your bedroom balcony.

The Tholos Resort is as close to perfect as you can get in Santorini. A wonderful staff, mezmerizing views, and an unbeatable price make it an absolute gem of a resort on the caldera of Santorini.
