Everyone knows that when you get a dog you need to make sure that it is well-trained, but not many people actually really know why. This article will give you a few examples of why it is vitally important that when you get yourself a new dog you make sure it is well-trained from the beginning. If you don't do so that they can cause major problems further down the line especially if you have a large or aggressive dog. While there are lots of different reasons why you might want to train your dog to do different things this article will guide you through why the very basic commands such as sit and stay are extremely important.

The main reason that it is really important you make sure you train your dog well is because an untrained dog is actually a danger to yourself and other people around that. I don't mean that the dog is going to try and attack people because it isn't train properly, but if you are walking in a dangerous area and the dog doesn't respond your commands that can be extremely difficult to anticipate what it is going to do and when it is going to do it. If your dog isn't well-trained and it is much more likely to have an accident especially when it is near a road and moving cars.

Remember that you should never use a large dog kennel and run as a punishment because this needs to be somewhere where the dog feels safe.

Another reason that you might want to train your dog isn't as important but still something that you should consider if it can be extremely embarrassing if you have a dog that is well-trained. The last thing you want when you have friends and family coming over is your dog jumping up on them and you not being able to stop them. It can be extremely embarrassing when this happens so it's important to make sure your dog is trained for your own sanity!

When you train your dog can be a very frustrating experience and it can be easy to suddenly lose your temper with a dog because it isn't doing something that you don't want it to do. You should never raise your voice at the dog when it is trying to train because this will only make it scared are less likely to be able to take in what you are trying to teach it. Instead you should always use positive training techniques when training a dog.
