Why Use A Fantasy Baseball Mock Draft

By | Jan 18, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Baseball is just around the corner which means it is about time to start thinking about your fantasy baseball draft. Pitcher and Catchers will report to their spring training complex at the end of February with the rest of the position players reporting soon thereafter.

By now, most baseball publications have had their fantasy issue hit the stores detailing can't miss sleepers as well as players to avoid. It definitely is very important to catch up on all the off season moves. Knowing where the top free agents signed will make a huge difference in where that player should be drafted and reading a fantasy baseball magazine can certainly help. It is just that more than likely it went to press sometime over the winter so some of the projections are likely to change as the season nears.

If you play in the same league from year to year then no doubt you understand the league rules. Otherwise, if you plan on joining a league in the spring, you'll want to spend some time understanding the ins and outs of the league before draft time. Also, try to understand how the fantasy sports software works for your league especially if you are doing your draft online. The last thing that you want to have happen is have the website pick a player for you because you couldn't figure out how to rank, sort and pick players.

Imagine knowing exactly where players should be drafted or better yet when a player presents themselves as a value pick. So, another way to prepare for the draft is to spend some time participating in a fantasy baseball mock draft or two. Try to find a mock draft that has the exact league specifications as yours – number of teams, scoring rules, etc. What this will do is give you an idea of where players tend to go in the draft.

Another aspect of participating in mock drafts is to test out some of your theories and strategies. You might have that super sleeper waiting in the wings that you just must get while that letting the wily veteran slide for a few rounds. I would suggest that you participate in the mock with the fantasy baseball software on the site that hosts your league (ESPN, Yahoo, CBS Sports etc) as this will give you a better feel for the speed of the draft. If this is not an option, there are several sites that specialize in mock drafting.

This year get a leg up on the competition. Success will come to those who prepare and participating in a fantasy baseball mock draft will give you a tremendous advantage over the rest of your league.
