Why is My Computer Running Slow?

By Edited Oct 5, 2016 0 1

Dealing with a slow computer always prompts the big question, "Why is my computer running slow?" In order to effectively analyze the situation, you need to look at everything a bit closer. Since several things can cause a computer to run slow, pinpointing the problem takes a little patience. But, with a little bit of know-how and persistence, you can find out why your computer is running slow and fix the problem promptly!

As mentioned above, your computer may be slow for a number of reasons. Some of the most common problems are listed below:

Viruses, Spyware or Malware

This is one of most common problems of a slow computer. Infectious programs that get installed unintentionally can slow the speed of a PC down so much to the point that it's nearly unable to function. In fact, if your PC was infected with any of the above, you most likely wouldn't be able to accomplish much on it.

Insufficient Memory

Another big kicker to a computer running slow is low memory. All computers rely on RAM (or Random Access Memory). This is used to help store temporary memory that is required when running various programs on your computer. If you run a lot of different applications and programs on your PC, low memory will slow your roll quick. The fix? Upgrade your memory.

Registry Errors

One of the more common problems that most people are unaware of. This can cause a computer to run slower than a snail. Registry errors pile up in the registry, causing a mess. The PC will still try to run these errored files, which takes up processing power and results in a slow computer. The solution? Install a registry cleaner to fix registry errors quickly. It will scan your PC for any problems, detect them and remove them all within a few minutes time. To speed up your computer, it's definitely worth it ten times over.

While the issues above are the most common, it doesn't mean that your computer is slow as a result of them. If you are unsure of what the problem really is, it's usually best to take your PC into a professional who can look at it and figure out a solution. Either way, stop sitting around asking yourself, "Why is my computer running slow". Now you know what you can do to take care of the problem and get your computer back up to speed!
