A lot of people simply blame the dog when it starts to get out of hand, blaming it on the genes. However, very often, it doesn’t come close to this, and it is the owner that is doing most of the damage. If dogs are not trained properly, they are going to lash out.

It is not just your typical breeds that are known for their hostile behavior, such as Alsatians and Rottweiler because aggression is often a sign that the dog is insecure, nervous or is maybe protective of the owner. A Labrador is known for being the perfect family pet, but often you hear of a dog like this going for family members. This is not something you will want to deal with.

A lot of dogs are banned from countries, simply because of the reputation they bring with them. This is sad, because any dog is able to be trained if done in the right way. No two dogs are the same and this is why we have to treat this carefully.

A lot of the time, you may see an Alsatian lying at the feet of the owner, playing with kids and welcoming guests into the home. This dog may not even make the best guard dog because of the way it is raised, but many people want a dog which will not only be an additional family member, but hopefully will be capable of helping with their security.

Training must be started from a young age. Once the dog has developed certain habits and a particular personality, it is going to be more tricky. It is important that you give this much attention. Find a dog training center which is right for you. You may even want to find something suited to your particular breed. For example, there are specific centers that specialize in Alsatians.

It is important monitor and watch the situation . This is hard work, but it is just something that must be done. Correct your puppy when it is appropriate  so he gets to know the difference between right and wrong. When you find that he has done the right thing, then give him a lot of love and attention. Have treats available so that he will be able to see the difference between right and wrong.

It is important to know that you are in control and a dog like this must realize that. If he becomes boss then the aggression will just take over. There are a lot of commands and techniques that you can pick up from a professional at a training center, so it is best to go this route, especially if you have one of the more aggressive dog breeds.

Once you have learned the basics, there is no way why you won't be in control of the situation. It does take some effort in the beginning on your part, but this will pay off in the long run as you begin to form a relationship with your new fury friend.
