Why the Kitchen Bar Stool Craze?

By | Sep 30, 2009 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

Perhaps because so many people live in apartments and flats in high-rise buildings or because space in a home is increasingly more important, bar stools in general have become a very hot furniture item.

Maybe it's also because dinning room or kitchen tables and chairs are basically similar in nature while stools are each unique and can be made in so many styles, and from so many materials, that they blend better with different decors. Also because they don't have to match perfectly with a set or a table or a counter, being that barstools can be single unique pieces that stand alone, they add a touch of personality to almost any room in a house.

For example oak bar stools can be used in a wooden country kitchen theme as easily as they can be moved onto a deck and used as an outdoor bar stool for summer barbeques. Backless bar stools can be pulled up to kitchen counters for kids to eat popsicles or to do their homework as easily as they can be used at a breakfast bar for busy executives. A black bar stool can be a feature in a den or basement as easily as it can be a place to sit while slicing tomatoes in the kitchen. A kitchen stool can double as a plant holder on a balcony or be the single piece of furniture in a minimalist loft. Retro numbers can be used in an art deco living room as easily as being placed in a contemporary chrome and white kitchen. Wrought iron seats can be part of a garden or be a single distinguishing feature of a traditional kitchen.
