Why the Lakers will win it all again, this year

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

So, here we go with another NBA season, and fans everywhere are hoping that their teams have made the right decisions in personnel. Will the Cav;s be the team to beat, now that they have Shaq? The Spurs should be a better team now that they added Richard Jefferson. What about Orlando? They have Vince Carter, but they still have some questions because they lost Hedo Turkoglu, will Vince fill in completely? Just with these few examples, I can tell we are in for a great season.

The one question that still lingers, can the Lakers repeat? Can this team, lead by one of the greatest shooting guards in history, be number one? I for one believe that the Lakers can go all the way again. With the talent that the Lakers have. Maybe they won't win the west by as many games as they did last year, but I believe their talent will carry them, as long as they have no key injuries.

Pau Gasol, Forward/Center, fundamentally sound, can play out to 15 feet effectively. Don't be fooled though, he can also take you to the hoop. He is very athletic, and causes all kinds of challenges for the other teams that play the Lakers.

Lamar Odom, A huge nightmare for teams that try and guard him different ways. If you crowd him, he can take you to the hole, if you back off, he can shoot it from about anywhere on the floor. He can dribble like a point guard, and is versatile. Without Odom last year, the Lakers don't even make it to the finals.

Ron Artest, will be an asset for the Lakers, he wants a ring bad. I think that the meltdowns with him will be kept in check. The influence of his team mates and coach Phil Jackson as his coach, will help him stay focused. Phil Jackson did a great job with Dennis Rodman, I just don't think that Artest wants to alienate anyone on his team.

The final reason that the Lakers will win the Championship, is that Kobe Bryant will have a great year once again. All the whispers about him losing a step, will be proven false. Kobe is one of the smartest players in the league, and like Michael Jordan said, "Basketball is 95% mental". Kobe took the summer off this year, something he hasn't done in awhile, and that will benefit him, and the Lakers. I look for Kobe to be very dominate, especially on defense, a benefit from aquiring Ron Artest.

The league may be a bit better, and teams may have improved, but the Lakers just have too much depth, too many weapons. I can't wait for the regular season to start, it;s going to be fun. So, I wait for the opening day games, hopefully the first step to another championship for the Lakers.
