Why you should consider buying property in the north of Bali

By | 2 Comments | Rating: 1 | |

Many people who visit the island of Bali in Indonesia for vacation develop a strong interest in buying a small part of the island for themselves. In the south of Bali, particularly in the areas like Seminyak and the Bukit there are some beautiful homes and villas for sale.

The problem is that the nicer places are way over most people's budget of buying a vacation home in Bali. The south of Bali is also the island's most popular and busiest places for people to visit. While the distances are not great to get to different places in the south, the traffic can be horrendous.

People who are prepared to travel a little bit to the north of Bali over the mountains in the center of the island to the north, will be rewarded a much quieter and beautiful part of Bali. The capital city of the north of Bali is Singaraja, but the focal point of tourism is the town of Lovina, located on the Bali Sea.

Lovina is only a small town, but there are plenty of places to stay and eat. Lovina is most famous its dolphin tours, which begin at dawn from the beach. Lovina is actually made up of several small towns. For people wanting to stay for a few months or even a year, there are quite a few houses available for rent. The nice thing is that north Bali is a cheap place to live in and you can get a place fairly easy for around US$200 a month.

Lovina is also becoming popular with retirees from Europe, who take advantage of the Indonesian government's retirement visa. There is a burgeoning market for open style villas. Construction costs are low and the land can be bought for a fraction of the cost that you would pay in the south of Bali.

Behind Lovina there are some small mountains, like in the area of Kaya Putih which is popular for building villas. The villas are built to capture the beautiful views looking over the Bali Sea.

While Lovina and Singaraja don't have the shopping options available like in the south of Bali, a wide range of western food is available in a couple of shops. Getting to Lovina from the airport near Kuta, takes about three hours. The drive to Lovina is very scenic, passing through the mountains and lakes.

For diving enthusiasts, Menjangan Island is only about an hour's drive from Lovina.

For people looking for peace and quiet, the north of Bali is an attractive option for many people. The locals are friendly and welcoming, the seafood is great and it can be a cheap place to live. If you want to get an idea of prices of land and homes, you can take a look at the Lovina Property website.
