I recently was lucky enough to go see Wicked the Musical. I have read all of the books so far by Gregory Maguire (Wicked, Son of a Witch, and A Lion Among Men). I have also been a fan of the music from the play for years, but had never actually seen the play.

I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of Wicked. The singers were amazing. They hit their notes with extreme perfection. The characters were believable and humorous, which kept the audience laughing. The band was perfect and played well with the performers.

The play is very different from the book, but it is wildly entertaining! Galinda was the main source of comedic relief in the play and the play made you feel compassion for Elphaba (the "wicked" witch of the west). The dancing was wonderfully choreographed and the set was breathtaking! The costumes sparkled!

There was a surprise ending in Wicked that I never saw coming. Nothing from the book or from the music from the play could have prepared me for the ending. It was amazing. The only sad thing about my Wicked experience was the fact that I could not take pictures. That is usually the case when you go to see plays, but it would have been nice to capture some memories while I was enjoying myself.

In Closing

Wicked is a great play for the young and old. The music is catchy and it would be a great thing to experience with the whole family! Go see it!
