In the next ten years, the number of wind installations are expected to quadruple. Even though the stock market outlook in this sector has been volatile for wind power energy in the past year, this renewable energy source is quickly gaining global popularity as a reliable and clean energy source. 1. American Super Conductor Corporation (AMSC) These are manufacturers of high quality wind turbines, and they also provide reliable grid interconnection solutions. AMSC Wintec is developing the Sea Titan. It is expected to be the most powerful wind turbine in the world. AMSC Wintec is a subsidiary of American Super Conductor Corporation

A-Power Energy Generation Systems (APWR) Via it's China based subsidiaries, this company is the largest provider of different forms of distributed power systems in that country, and as of 2008, it has built the largest wind turbine facility. Even though its stock has been volatile in the past, they just signed a contract to build a coal based power plant for Inner Mongolia Huolinhe Coal Trade Group. This project is in the $600 million dollar range which would give them the necessary funding to begin work on the Spinning Star wind farm project in west Texas. 4. Catch The Wind, LTD (CTW.V) This is a technology company that is based in Virginia. Catch The Wind develops and manufactures laser based wind sensor systems.

5. Centrica PLC (CPYYY.PK) Centrica is an integrated energy company that is the leading off shore wind developer in the UK.

6. Datang International (DIPGY.PK) Datang International is one of the largest independent power producers in China, and they manage over 50 power generation companies. They are driven to push wind powered development projects.

7. Dong Fang Electric (DNGFF.PK) Dong Fang Electric Corp is the third largest power equipment maker in China. It has just secured $3.06 billion dollars worth of orders for thermal, wind, and nuclear-power generating equipment from China and India.

8. Edison International (eix) Edison International is a generator of electric power that includes renewable energy.

9. Enel (ENLAY.PK) Involved in the integration of traditional sources of energy with renewable source of energy using smart grid technology.
