Women's Hair Replacement

Understanding Hair Loss

Prior to any options being discussed regarding women's hair replacement, it is imperative that the reason behind the hair loss in the first place is discussed, which can be discovered by taking a greater look at how women's hair grows.

Many of the links that I've placed on this website will allow for further in-depth research to be carried out on this subject, but the cycle of hair growth in women is in three separate parts and the first part is known as the anagen. During this period, the hair grows at a rate of, on average, one a half inches each calendar month. This stage happens for approximately two years, when which the hair enters a new stage, known as catagen, where the hair doesn't grow at all. After around five weeks, the final stage, telogen, begins and is where the hair is effectively resting before the cycle begins once more.

Androgens

One of the major components of hair replacement for women are androgens. More common in men than in women, androgens can effect hair growth and loss considerably and therefore play a large part in deciding on which women's hair replacement technique is most suitable.

The FPB Technique

One of the most popular options for hair replacement in women is the FPB technique. In essence, this technique is carried out by taking a skin graft from one area of the head where hair is still actively growing and prominently visible and grafting it onto an area of the head where hair has ceased growing.

It takes an experienced Medical Professional who specializes in the field ofhair replacement to carry out this procedure, as if it is carried out incorrectly, the grafted hair could very easily die, resulting in a wasted surgical operation.

After Surgery

Once the procedure has been carried out fully, the patient must ensure that whilst they can carry out their normal activities, the hair is not harmed in any major way and is protected for many weeks afterwards.

I've placed several links around this website that should provide you with a good understanding of what not to do after this surgery, as well as help with how to protect your hair.

If carried out properly, the hair will begin to grow once again and with the use of hair oils that are suitable for the patient's individual hair, a full head of hair will soon be apparent, showing that women's hair replacement by this method can be extremely effective.
