Working to Make Money Online When the Power is Out

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 1 1

I make money online writing articles and building blogs for profit. It is really that simple. However, there are always speed bumps that get in the way when it comes to making sure that I get the work done that I plan to. One such hurdle that I have had to face is power outages. The insanely high temperatures this summer has spawned some the most intense thunderstorms that this area has seen in a while. So what is someone who wants to make money online do when the lights go out?
Some People
There will be people that will put there to do list for the day on hold. This is a normal response to losing power when you want to make money online. You earn your cash through the Internet. You need electricity and your Internet connection to do a lot of your work. This is simple to many people. So most people would light candles or grab the flashlight and do nothing for the hours that they are without power. This is not what the driven people that really want to make money online would do. It is not what I did.
Find a Way
I have a goal to make money online and to increase my residual income to the levels that will help me to live the lifestyle that I want. Sitting and doing nothing for a few hours is not going to get me there. This is wasted time to me. So what can I do? I got out an old fashion notebook and pen and started writing. Yes, you read that right. A person the wants to make money online, took to the old way of writing on paper to get the work done. Now for some people who have notebook computers or Ipads that may have a battery charge and would allow them to type and save their work until the power came back on. I do not have this luxury, but come to think of it investing in one of these options may be a good idea for the future.
The main problem with writing articles in a notebook to make money online is that you can not do keyword research before you write the content. If you have been focusing around the same niches for a while, you may an idea of some keywords that you could use. But for the most part, you will be flying blind when using this writing style to get your work done. I choose to focus on some topic areas that I have written in the past as well as choosing some keywords that I thought people would be searching for.
Now I am not of the mindset to rewrite these articles once I gain Internet access and can look up the keywords to see if they are profitable. This may be a good idea for most people when it comes to being able to make money online. It is not me. I have found that some of the articles that I did little to no keyword research on tend to be some of my better earners over time. It is strange and not something that I would tell most writers to do, but it works for me at times.
My catch was trying to hit my word counts for the different sites that I post to. I will not post content on Info Barrel to make money online that is less then 500 words. Due to the contests that are held every month, I like to make sure that I get at least a point towards it for every piece that I publish. This helps my adsense revenue to get to a larger percentage. So what I found was that if an article was well under 500 words then I would post it over at hubpages and if it was close to 500 or over, it would get posted here on Info Barrel.
I found this system to be very effective for me. I did not feel that I had an entire day wasted when I could have been working to make money online. I do not have that many hours during the day to focus on creating new content. I have housework and a little one to take care of. Like many people who look to make money online, I have not yet been able to find full time hours to put towards this endeavor. That is why it is so important to make sure that I use the time that I can in the most effective way I can. This means not waisting a couple of hours because of a simple power outage. I believe that it is this drive to make sure that I get the work done that will make me successful in achieving my goals.
