Write a Book Press Release That Sells Books

By | Mar 29, 2010 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

At long last! You have just printed your novel or non-fiction book. You finished round after round of updates with your book organizer or editor, and finally the finished zip files have been shuffled on over to your printer's email or FTP system. The initial part is done, but your job definitely isn't. You surely shouldn't relax, shooting the breeze waiting for your boxes to arrive. The waiting period between placing and obtaining your bound books is the right moment to get started on your book press release.

Bear in mind that you can always find an experienced press release editor to pen your book press release, but let's say you prefer to work on it yourself, below is a simple formula for publishing a press release that gives you full story and as a result sells books. It could even result in a piece in a publication if you lure in enough interest in your story.

1) Develop your direction for the release. The most inspiring news releases have a strong background on the author. If anything noteworthy occurred in the writer's life write about it in the press release. For instance, say you had a funny college experience, which caused you to write a book for incoming college students. Tie your story in with an issue that is mainstream news.

2) Open your book news release with a strong title that is relevant to your story and book. For instance, "Former Broke College Student Gives Tips for How to Survive Freshman Year." Your sub heading must briefly support the headline with more explicit details.

3) Start the main content of the book press release with a tight, catchy, and even amusing first sentence.

4) Write about your story (the author's story) in the next few lines.

5) Write the entire title of the novel or guide toward the halfway mark of the book press release, then discuss how this book release links up with the writer's personal history. Add in a direct saying from the author about the book and the author's story. Include any recent triumphs.

6) Write the book title again and tell the reader where the book is sold. You can link to your website or Amazon for book orders.

When you are done perfecting your book press release, proofread it and correct it as necessary. You may also choose to commission someone to edit it for you professionally. Then comes the exciting part… submitting your release to the world.

With just a quick copy and paste job your news release will be presented to a limitless number of readers when you use PRWeb. PRWeb's press release submission service allows you to submit your book press release to web surfers in a matter of a few clicks. You can then watch the growth of the release, such as the number of viewers who selected, grabbed, and/or forwarded your release to friends. This is how you can gauge the reach of the press release.

Who knows? You could even get tapped for an article feature by a well known newspaper if you do a great job on this book press release.
