I just wrote an article and I don't see it anywhere on my profile. It's not listed under live, draft, or deleted. Where is it? The draft I started and saved is missing too.

I was writing my first article and clicked on save draft, I thought I could return later to complete it. When I returned to complete it I was prompted to a message saying that I could not open the article for several days, that it was being reviewed...(it had 1 1/2 steps because I did not not complete it) Now it is gone! My profile it states that I have not written anything!

Hey fahadneo,

While we try our best to get articles approved as fast as we can (within a few hours to a day), sometimes we get swamped and it takes a bit longer to get through all the articles in the approval queue.

If your article has been published or denied you should receive an email telling you what has happened.

My article seems to have vanished between the preview page and edit or publish. I'm afraid to move off the page for fear it will go away altogether. So far, firefox has been saving it when I hit the 'back' button.

I'm a new info barreller too. My first few articles were approved within about 12 hours. How soon do the "achievements" appear on my account? e.g. new writer, made one comment, etc?

Hey anders,

Achievements are checked every night at midnight EST. If you have met any requirements for achievements at that point, the achievement will show up of your account.

Should we set up an Adsense channel for infobarrel.com?

Also I've clicked on verification several times. The system says verification sent but it never arrives. Do I need verification? If so, how do I get it to work?

Thanks

Hi Miniapple,

In order to see your stats on your adsense account you will need to set up an InfoBarrel Channel. Instructions on doing this are posted here: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13993

As for verification, we have had some email providers mistakenly mark emails from InfoBarrel as spam. If you aren't receiving your verification email, please check your spam box. If you still can't find it, send us an email using the Contact Us page and we will sort it out.

Hey, is making much money on this site; more than eHow.com. I hope so, I'm not real impressed with the earnings of eHow, however, it is addicting once you start writing! Thanks for any and all imput.

So...I started out at Squidoo....made my way over to eHow....and, quite honestly, after the submission of my first article, I find this platform very inviting.

....over the last year, I have written 74 very high quality articles that I would like to ADD to this site.....can I do this today, or should I only do 5 or so per day? (I believe other sites have limits to how many articles one can upload)....

....these articles haven't been uploaded to any other website....but, I just held on to them because I like to write, and thought I could one day use them for something like this....

Hey x3xsolxdierx3x,

We don't have a limit on how many articles a user can submit to the site in a day, or ever for that matter, so feel free to submit as many as you would like.

oh....and, how long does it typically take for an article to become approved here? Not to bash eHow or anything, but it's nice to have found a site that isn't absolutely ridden with glitches.... :) this site is destined for great things...can't wait to contribute more! :)

I am trying to delete all my articles at ehow and bring them here, but ehow is sooooo ridden with glitches right now, their editing (and thus, deleting) programs are not working. Can I start to move my articles here even though there is removals problems at ehow?

Hi SelmaOR,

We have a strict policy here about duplicate content and won't approve an article if it is found to be online elsewhere. If you are going to post articles that have been posted elsewhere, please make sure they are removed before you submit them to InfoBarrel.

Thanks! I'm just working around the glitches over there and bringing over what I can delete. I love this site! Hopefully, you'll pay as much, if not more than eHow was! I'd take the same pay, just to lose the headaches from that site!

It takes some time...especially if you have ALOT of articles....but, I just went through and added BLANK to all the article boxes, and then published....I hope that will suffice....all the content has been deleted....

....I'm pretty sure that alot of eHow'ers are gravitated over to here.....they seriously need to get their system strait ASAP, if they want people to contribute confidently...

Is there any particular Font here that everyone likes more than others? I know this gets down to intricate details.......but, does anyone know of a font that has been linked to more click-throughs on Adverts?....Something so simple....I'm sure someone, somewhere in cyberspace has done research on that.....anyone have a Font that they particularly like to use more than other types?

I kind of like the font on this forum. I don't like the book fonts with the little tails all over. Just clear letters. I just noticed the font in the "add a new comment" box is the tailed letter font I was talking about....

Question, is there a problem with the adding a How to article wizard. It won't save or publish my article and the only thing saving it right now is the preview page. If I go anywhere else, the whole article gets deleted. Is there a bug?

Is it okay to use Amazon Associates program here?

admin
Sep 8, 2009 5:23pm

Hey SelmaOR,

You can use Amazon links in your articles, with a few restrictions. They count towards your 2 self-serving links, must be used contextually (no banners) and the article must provide value on its own and not be a promotional page for whatever product you are linking to.

I have a question....I've been chipping along at some of the 'Overviews' needed under "Things to do".....I definitely strive for perfection in my writing, however, is Info Barrel particularly looking for articles that approach the caliber of Wikipedia. I know alot about a few subjects....and can do research on my own....however, Wikipedia is extremely thorough with some of their articles.....

Will our article be denied if it's not up to the caliber of thoroughness like Wikipedia? I'll write good content....but, I don't know that I have the time to extract information from 37 different encyclopedias as well as research journals to substantiate it.... (I could...but, that would take quite a bit of time...)

Good question!

We don't need the type of depth that is covered on most Wikipedia pages, but we do want the overview to give the reader a basic understanding or overview of the type of topic(s) that people will be covering in the articles posted to that category.

If your overview is denied, we will provide a reason which you can refer to and edit your overview to fix whatever issues there might have been and resubmit it.

I hope this clarifies the overview process for you.

Another questions--my article's ads don't seem to match my article. How do we adjust this?

admin
Sep 10, 2009 1:22pm

Hey SelmaOR,

Your ads are automatically chosen by Google. Google's crawler bots read the page and decide what the content of the article is and then assign ads accordingly. This can sometimes take a little time before they find out the right ads for your content. Be patient with the process and proper ads will find their way to your page.

I was wondering why me popular article stopped recieving hits. Infobarrel has several lines of this at the top:

Warning: mysql_result() [function.mysql-result]: Unable to jump to row 0 on MySQL result index 16 in /media_www/infobarrel.com/public_html/php-functions-display_howto.php on line 115

Warning: mysql_result() [function.mysql-result]: Unable to jump to row 0 on MySQL result index 16 in /media_www/infobarrel.com/public_html/php-functions-display_howto.php on line 117

Bots would have a hard time getting past that as it fills up the entire page. If you scroll down, my article appears, but who's going to scroll past an entire screen of this?

Ok, the problem seemed to pop up in the picture area of each step when I entered the "edit" stage, so I just erased all the steps and put them back in. Although the titles of the pictures start with ehow, I can assure you, those are MY pictures. That wouldn't have caused the problem, would it?

As I understand your terms when we publish an article to your site we retain ownership and copyrights to it. How do we delete articles if we decide to take them down at a later date? Also, is there anyway to check my earnings on your site without logging into Google adsense? Thanks for accepting me on your site. I hope things work out better here than at ehow.

Hey Aupoet,

To delete articles please email us with Contact Us form and we will remove them for you. As for the earnings, you can only view them on your Google Adsense page.
