Whitening teeth is something many people have no knowledge about. To find the most effective whitening method for yourself, you have to get the right information. Learn as much as you can about whitening your teeth before you begin a teeth-whitening program for faster and better results. Read this article for some strategies to whiten teeth. Having good breath is a step toward having whiter teeth. Lick your palm to test the smell of your breath, or simply breathe through your mouth into your cupped hand. If you smell an odor, you should try to freshen it with a breath mint or mouthwash. When using mouthwash, ensure it's alcohol-free because alcohol can dry out your mouth. One good home remedy for teeth whitening is mixing regular table salt with lemon juice. The mixture can be stored for repeated use if kept in an airtight container to prevent spoilage. When drinking darkly colored beverages, use a straw. Many of the things you drink can discolor your teeth; when you use straws, most of the beverages will never touch your teeth. Avoiding these drinks will allow your teeth to remain whiter. Laser tooth whitening may be done by your local dentist. This is probably the fastest way you'll be able to have the whitest smile possible. The dentist applies a gel, and then the bleaching agents in the gel are activated with the laser. Your teeth will look much whiter than before, by up to five magnitudes. To make a homemade whitening toothpaste use peroxide and baking soda mixed in equal parts. Use this mixture to brush your teeth for up to ten minutes. Brush your teeth with a good amount of pressure, but not too hard. Your gums can get irritated if you do it too vigorously. Use whitening toothpaste on a daily basis. A whitening toothpaste will prevent stains from appearing, even if it is not as strong other methods. They do this by scrubbing them away with a silica abrasive, which is mild enough not to harm the enamel of your teeth. If you want to keep your teeth white, do not use mouthwash. If keeping your teeth white is a problem, consider dropping the mouthwash from your daily routine. There are various chemical ingredients contained in mouthwash. Among these chemicals are some that can cause staining of the teeth. Enamel is the mineral layer of your teeth that protects them from infection and other trauma. Products that are made with highly acidic ingredients can damage your teeth. Use a mortar and pestle to crush the dried bay and orange leaves into a fine dust. Form a paste by mixing the powder with some water, and use it to brush your teeth. This has been found to keep other problems at bay, including gingivitis and cavities. You'll want to take regular visits to the dentist for cleanings if you're serious about keeping your teeth nice and clean. Dental cleanings should be a routine, where you schedule each appointment every six months. You should make sure to keep your appointments because your insurance should cover this. When food particles are left in your mouth, there is the potential for them to cause staining, especially dark ones. One way to make sure this does not happen is to chew sugar free gum after eating. Rather than dropping serious dollars at the store, you can actually find a tooth whitening remedy just outside your house. You can use the bark of a walnut tree to help with the discoloration of teeth. Strip the tree of the bark, rinse i, and rub on your teeth prior to brushing. It removes both stains and plaque. Apple cider vinegar is a nice, natural way to get your teeth whiter. It can take bacteria out of your mouth and clean your teeth naturally. For the best results you should gargle with apple cider vinegar once a day, preferably in the morning, then brush your teeth. Changing your lipstick is an easy way to brighten your smile. Use lip gloss or blue tinted lip color. If you use reds that are blue-tinted, your teeth will look whiter. Avoid red or yellow-based matte lipstick shades, which will only bring out the yellow in your teeth. Eating an apple can give your teeth the illusion of being whiter than they actually are. Crunchy fruits and vegetables have an abrasive quality that can provide a deep cleaning. You need to pursue your goal teeth whitening from multiple different angles. Being aware of the foods you're consuming, only using products that actually whiten your teeth and having dental checkups on a regular basis are the three essentials of maintaining whiter teeth. Don't buy mouthwashes that are mass marketed and store bought, especially those that are artificially colored. It is possible for these mouthwashes to actually discolor your teeth. Most of them also contain alcohol which is potentially harmful to your gums and tongue, and can soak into your bloodstream though your skin under your tongue. If you have cavities or gum disease that are untreated, see the dentist about these prior to teeth whitening. Be very careful about whitening your teeth. The dentist can tell you whether it's a good call to get your teeth whitened. You can also use the right colors of lipstick to cause your teeth to appear even whiter. The brighter the lipstick, the more discolored your teeth will look. The best tones for off-white or yellowed teeth are pinks or nude shades. To whiten your teeth, buy some gels that whiten. You can find these at local drug stores and they're a lot cheaper than the dentist. That being said, if you have heavily stained teeth, you might have to visit your dentist to get a treatment that works. Now that you have some new strategies for how you're going to whiten your teeth you should already start feeling positive. Remember that all that you learned here isn't everything there is to know about how to whiten your teeth, so try your best to always seek new knowledge and to apply it whenever possible.
