You Need a Car Inverter if you Love Electronic Gadgets

If you have a car and happen to be a tech-savvy person who is into electronic gadgetry then one of the necessary contraptions you should have in your car is one of those nifty power inverters for cars.

A car inverter is a device that converts the electricity that any car battery produces into electrical current that can be used by ordinary household appliance or most electronic gadget that needs to be plugged into a wall socket to work. Gadgets like cell phones, notebook computers, and flat screen televisions come to mind but there are other stuff that you can theoretically bring with you in your car and start operating it using electricity from your car.

There are many types of car inverters but the most popular one are those types that you just plug into the car's cigarette receptacle or DC outlet and you can convert the 12-volt battery power into either 120 or 240 volts that you can immediately use to charge your mobile phone or laptop batteries or power up a flat screen display and a portable DVD player.

The small cigarette receptacle car power inverter also has a small power output that ranges around 100 watts. Its bigger cousins can produce up to approximately 1000 watts so if you require more juice than your cigarette lighter can produce you will need one of the bigger inverter models, some of which you need to attach directly to the car battery terminals. This is a good option for those looking to have portable power supply but does not have sufficient finances to get one of those nice 1000 watt portable generator systems which may have price tags of over a thousand dollars.

Car inverters are definitely cheaper since there are thousand watt models that could be acquired for just around a hundred dollars like the 1500 watt (capable of 3000 watts peak) Cobra CPI 1575 12-volt DC to 120-volt AC power.

Different Uses

If you are on the road a lot either as part of your profession or extra-curricular activities then having a portable power system is a must for you. This is because you never know when that cell phone or laptop battery will die on you so you have to have contingencies set up. It does not have to be an expensive portable power generator system as you just need one of those small inverters that fit inside the glove compartment of your car and you should be safe from such gadget disasters.

If you want something more powerful for your recreational vehicle or perhaps for a camping trip power needs, then you should get one of those higher-wattage car inverters which are great alternatives to camping generators. You however need to bring along a battery (usually a 12v car battery) with you if you wish to use an inverter.
