Firstly you must look at the types of food you are eating. We all know that watching our energy intake is very important for weight loss. Most weight loss diet plans suggest keeping your calorie intake to between 1200 and 1500 per day. This includes food and drinks. So a good place to start is to look at your ‘empty calorie’ consumption. This means soft drinks, alcohol, sweets, confectionary and tea or coffee. These empty calories will not help you achieve your goal as they make you consume calories for no real benefit of either energy or nutrition.


Next look at how your diet can be assisted further by exercise.  If you can burn more calories, then the diet will have a better effect.  If you are combining both diet and exercise result s will come faster. Try cardio for at least 30 minutes three times a week as this will help to burn fat. Strength training and weights can help you to burn energy faster too.

 

Finally, plan your meals so that you are always getting a mix of nutrients, especially lean proteins that will help to keep you feeling fuller for longer.  Eat lots of vegetable, fruit and wholesome carbohydrates. Limit fatty foods, and anything high in sugar or salt and view them as treat foods, you can still have them but limit the amount you eat. Also cut out alcohol as much as possible. If you can plan the day or the week ahead, you are more likely to eat better and make the right choices, instead of grabbing what you can on the run because you are hungry.

 

There are other ways you can lose weight such as diet pills and herbs but these should really be only used sparingly and not as a substitute for a weight loss diet and exercise plan.
