You're Never "Too Old" to Have Fun

By Edited Dec 30, 2015 0 0

There seems to be this false belief that people hold regarding fun. There’s a point where you have to “grow up,” settle down, and you aren’t allowed to enjoy silly things or like goofing off anymore. It sounds all well and good on the surface, but it can actually cause a lot of issues for you in the long run.

There was a great article in the Huffington Post about the importance of playing and goofing off, no matter how old or young you may be. Some people may be appalled by that, thinking that people who are responsible adults can’t possibly have fun and excitement in their lives. But that’s just not true. Without goofing off and fun, there are a number of problems that can occur. Your health can deteriorate quickly if you don’t have a little fun and relaxation in your life on a regular basis.

Here are some of the positives of having fun.

- You become stressed out less often because you  have ways to relieve stress on a regular basis. In that same realm. goofing off and having fun can help fend off  health problems that are related to stress and anxiety.

- Goofing off helps you to keep positive even during difficult times in your life. Think about what you do during and after a funeral - you remember the good times so that the pain lessens. You can apply that mindset to a number of areas of your life.

- You usually goof off and have fun with those you love and trust, and so they’re enjoying themselves too. Having fun helps you to get closer to those you love, and it creates comradeship.

I’m not saying that you should just shirk all responsibility and act like you’re 16 again. You don’t want to have a lifestyle that revolves around goofing off and wasting time. What you really need is to be able to find a balance in your life, where you get done exactly what needs to be done in a prompt and appropriate manner, but that you also take time outs for yourself, where you have fun, goof off, and be yourself. Your body and mind will thank you for it, and so will the people that are around you daily.
