Zealer Squirmles - Retro Toys

By Edited Jul 12, 2015 1 0

Do you remember Zealer Sqirmles retro toys?  They were popular at one time in the seventies and many people are now looking for these neat playthings again for their children and grandchildren.  When these things were released, they were wildly popular, at least for a while.  These days, many of us want to get that nostalgic feeling that comes from playing around with the things of our youth.  Whether you’re looking for a birthday gift, Christmas present, or just about anything else, you can still buy them.  Let’s relive the past and look at Squirmles retro toys from Zealer in a little more detail.

What Are They?

These cool things are basically a puppet, although you don’t put your hand or fingers inside of them.  They are in the basic shape of a worm, very fuzzy, and have many different names these days, which are basically just copies of the originals.  I’ll go over the other names for them in a little more detail a little later.

What Do They Do?

You can make the magic worms wiggle around, seemingly like magic.  People have gotten very good at making them move all over the place, moving over small objects and over hands, seemingly on their own.  While it’s not quite the electronic gadget that most kids are accustomed to these days, it is something the children can play with and have some fun.

How Much Are They?

It really depends on what you’re looking for.  If you want to find a real Zealer Squirmles retro toy, you’ll pay a little more than you would for one of the knock-offs.  These days, you can find a magical fuzzy worm for about $5, so they certainly won’t break the bank when you buy them.

New Names

There are several new names for the throwbacks.  Today, there are several manufacturers making similar items and putting them for sale.  Most are using the word worm these days, and they may call them a Fuzzy or Fuzzle magic worm, a twirly, or a wiggly.

Where Can I Find Them?

You can find them in some big box retail shops, but you’re more likely to find them in either specialty shops or online.  Amazon, eBay, and many other online retailers have some form of the original for sale.  Since they are super light, shipping isn’t very much with these little fuzzy snake puppets.

Why Should I Get One?

Why not?  They are unique, relatively cheap, and something you just don’t see every single day.  You can get them in multiple colors and through many sellers.  If you are looking for something to get a child that spends too much time playing with electronics, or if you just don’t have a huge budget, these would be a great gift idea.  Give them a shot and see what the little one thinks of it.  Try Zealer Squirmles retro toys and see how they go over.
