Comparison Review: BBCC-X20 Vs BB-CEC20

If you like nothing more than to wake up to the smell of home-made bread, then you’re in for a real treat. You can now buy bread makers that work so well they make it seem like buying a loaf of bread from the store is almost prehistoric. What’s more is the Zojirushi brand of bread makers is a particularly good one, and it’s one you should consider if you want to enjoy a lovely fresh loaf of bread from time to time.

The difficulty comes when you try to choose from this range of bread makers, as you may not know which one is the right bread maker for you. This is why this article compares two of the best Zojirushi bread makers so you can make a more informed choice and walk away with the perfect one.

Both bread machines, the Zojirishi BBCCX20 and the BBCEC20 make rectangular two pound loaves with relative ease, but there are a few differences between the machines, and we’re going to explore these differences below:

Number of cycles/options

The BBCC-X20 comes with 10 cycles that allows you to bake a wide variety of  foods including your favorite loaf, cakes, meatloaf, fruit jam, sourdough and so much more. This means the BBCC-X20 can work to give you more than just a loaf of bread, as it’s almost a little bakery in itself.

The BB-CEC20 also comes with 10 cycles that can help you to make a wide variety of loaves, as well as cakes, sour dough starter, meatloaf and more. This ensures you no longer need to buy your loaves from your local store, as you can make them at home and enjoy a lovely fresh taste.

Crust Control

The BBCC-X20 comes with 3 different crust control settings which mean you can enjoy a nice light loaf, a slightly darker loaf or even a lovely golden brown loaf. We all like our bread to look different, and it’s great that the BBCC-X20 gives you the choice. The BB-CEC20 also comes with 3 crust shades meaning you can change it to suit your preferences, or that of the eater of the loaf.

Memory settings

The BBCC-X20 allows you to store 3 of your favorite recipes so you can find and use them with ease instead of having to scroll through the options. This makes baking your favorite recipes a little more convenient, especially if you’re in a bit of a hurry. However, the BB-CEC20 does not come with this feature, but scrolling through the recipe options is quick and easy, meaning you’ll find the recipe you need in no time at all.

Size (Dimensions)

If you have a limited amount of space in your kitchen or wherever you plan to keep your bread maker, it’s good to know how big these machines can be. Ideally you should measure up the space where you plan to keep your new bread maker, so you know what size to look out for.

The BBCC-X20’s dimensions are: 19 x 14 x 12 inches, which makes it a good sized machine, without it being too large. However, if you are a little stuck for space, you may be pleased to know that this is not the biggest bread maker around.  The BB-CEC20 dimensions are: 18.9 x 13.6 x 12.8 inches, which makes it just that little bit bigger than the previous model, but not too much more.

Viewing window

Both the BBCC-X20 and the BB-CEC20 come with a large viewing window so you can clearly see how your loaf of bread is getting on. It may be necessary for you to remove the loaf before the cycle has ended if your loaf looks as though it’s done, or the crust has reached a desirable color.

The BBCC-X20 and the BB-CEC20 come with a 13 hour timer, which means you can add your ingredients to your bread maker in the early evening and it will have a delicious and tasty loaf ready and waiting for you when you rise in the morning.

Additional Features & Specifications

The BBCC-X20 comes with a 2 hour quick bake cycle, twin kneading paddles and a recipe book and instructional videos. The BB-CEC20 also comes with a 2 hour quick bake cycle, but it also comes with measuring spoons and cups and recipes. What’s more is you can also make use of a 10 minute power failure back up if needs be.

Summary - Which should you buy the BBCC-X20 or BB-CEC20?

Both the BBCC-X20 and the BB-CEC20 are very good bread makers that will give you delicious tasting bread time after time. The only difference between the models is the BB-CEC20 offers you measuring spoons and cups and will leave your recipes cooking for 10 minutes in case of a power failure. While this is not a bad thing, it does account for the higher price.
