Zoot Prophet Wetsuit Review

If you are considering buying a Zoot Prophet wetsuit then you are probably interested in preparing for an upcoming triathlon event.  I am an avid triathlon competitor and try to enter as many events as I can each season if not for the experience, for the exercise and enjoyment of it. I have long considered myself strongest in the run, weakest in the bike and fair in the swim. That is until I rented a wetsuit to use at a USAT sanctioned event. I liked it so much that I finally bought one for myself. I couldn't find much in the way of Zoot Wetsuit Reviews online, so I promised myself that after I tried it out, I'd post one to share.

My reluctance to purchase a wetsuit lasted several seasons, seasons I now regret. Since buying my Zoot Prophet wetsuit, the swim has become my best event with my run a close second. Wow- who would have ever thought!? Now granted, I ended up spending a few more seconds in T1 but it is more than worth it, considering how much my swim time improved.

The Zoot Prophet is Zoot Sports’ latest and greatest in their impressive line of wetsuits. They sell the Prophet in 9 sizes ranging from extra small to medium tall to 2XL. The Zoot website recommends buying one size up if you are right on the borderline and I agree. I weighed in at 182 and took their advice and I am glad I did. I am 6’ even and the Medium Large fits me perfectly. I have great arm rotation and the suit doesn’t reduce my range of motion at all. This was a big concern to me (and probably a contributing factor to why I was always so hesitant to buy a triathlon wetsuit, but now I know that it's nothing to worry about.

The Zoot Prophet wetsuit meets USAT guidelines and can be worn at all sanctioned events that allow wetsuits.  As typical, the Prophet has a dorsal zipper and can easily be walked out of at T1. I am still practicing this to improve my transition time. I recommend anyone who is new to wearing a wetsuit do the same; transitions can make or break you, so it's a good idea to be as efficient as possible.

For full disclosure purposes, I have to admit that I was the guy out there ranting and raving about wetsuits before I bought one. I remember telling my wife on many occasions that people who buy wetsuits are just gadget hungry and need the latest toys to help their egos. It wasn’t until I got the chance to rent a wetsuit (which was a minimal investment, compared to buying one) that I began to change my thought process. I took about 30 minutes pre-race rehearsing T1 until I felt confident I could take it off quickly. Again, it's a work in progress, but I am confident that I can improve my transition time.

The swim felt a bit strange at first but then I settled in and began to feel the benefits almost immediately.  First of all, I was warmer which was a big deal to me and second, I felt like I was swimming with less effort to maintain my usual pace. I hate to sound like a commercial or advertisement, but it really did seem to improve my buoyancy noticeably and helped decrease the energy that it took to stay afloat. It was almost like I had a bit of reserve energy that I normally didn’t have.

Since I bought my Zoot I have not looked back. I bought my Zoot Prophet Wetsuit online and have enjoyed every minute of it. I am no longer afraid to enter the early tri events because of colder water and I am improving on my transitions.

I recommend the Zoot Prophet wetsuit because it is well built  and works great. The seams are reinforced and can handle the abuse, and the craftsmanship is top notch. If you are like I was regarding wetsuits, I recommend you try one out. You will not be disappointed, especially if you try the new Zoot Prophet wetsuit.
