Traveling with a full sized laptop can be a drag. They're heavy, bulky and not to mention EXPENSIVE. Personally, I just don't want to deal with the hassle of lugging a big ol' laptop around, especially with the chance of it getting stolen.
The problem is, I still do a lot of work online. And of course I need an easy way to stay in touch with friends and family.
So I turned to travel computers.
There are several different types of travel computers, it all depends on your preference and your needs. Personally, I prefer netbooks, they're lightweight, portable, durable and pretty cheap; essentially just a mini laptop. You can also try a tablet or i-Pad. They're extremely small and light (about the size of a book) and good for reading or surfing the web, but the typing is a little slow going on the touch screen. No matter what type of travel computer you choose, you shouldn't have to pay a fortune. Here are the best travel computers for 400$ or less.
Features: 11.6 inch screen, Samsung Exynos 5250 Dual Core Processor, 2GB RAM, 2 USB ports, built in dual band Wi-Fi.
This sleek netbook has some great qualities to it. It has a super quick start up and built in virus protection (at no extra charge!). It's built to stay cool, which is great for warmer environments. It also has a built in webcam and dual band Wi-Fi for easy connectivity. The full keyboard allows for comfortable typing. The setup of this little netbook is a bit similar to a Macbook Pro, for a fraction of the cost. The Chromebook manages quite a feat; weighing only 2.4lbs, being only o.7 inches thick and lasting for 6.5 hours of battery life.
Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410
Features: Intel Atom N2600 Processor 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM, 320GB Hard drive, 10.1 inch screen, Windows 7 starter, 8 hours of battery life.
Great durable netbook. The Acer Aspire offers an astounding 8 hours of battery life, at only 2.8lbs, so this is a great choice if you're always on the go. It has a built in webcam plus three USB ports and one HDMI port. It also has larger keys which makes for easier typing. The video quality is good (DVD quality). The only downside to this network is the slower 1GB RAM, which can be upgraded after purchase.
Hp Mini 1104 Netbook
Features: 0 MHz Atom N2600 processor, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive, 10.1 inch screen, 9 hour battery life.
A great computer for simple and practical uses. Quick and efficient 2GB RAM. It comes with Windows 7 starter and Norton antivirus. LED screen makes for easy visibility. Good wifi connectivity, small size plus a 9 hour battery life makes for great portability.
Features: 0.512 GB RAM, 2 camera's (front and back), bluetooth, LED backlight and touchscreen, 1 GHz Apple A5 processor.
This tiny little device does amazing things. Weighing only 1.3 lbs with a 9.7 inch screen, it is the ultimate computer for portability. The i-Pad also has 10+ hours of battery life, even while viewing movies or playing games. It is perfect for the minimalist traveler. Though the portability and light weight are fantastic features, the lack of memory and keyboard make this an ideal computer for those just wanting to read, surf the web or check email. It is not ideal for bloggers, writers or anyone wishing to do any web design or editing on the road.
