Articles about class
Chomping at the bit waiting for the open beta of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn? Of course you are, since the character you level on the open beta gets carried over when the game goes live, it is essentially a huge head start. With any sort of head start, you don't want to squander it on the specifics like say, understanding how the class and job system works. There is quite a large bit of confusion about it. However, since the game is still under a Non-Disclosure Agreement not everything can be discussed. However, there are some public details and the experiences players have had with the previous MMOs that can help debunk the whole class and job system.
Blade & Soul is NCSoft's free-to-play MMO that recently made its way over from Asia, where it has been out for several years, to North America and Europe. Gamers are taking to it quickly for its unique reaction-based combat system and eye-melting graphical splendor. However, among the many conventional MMO norms that Blade & Soul tossed out the window was the MMO Holy Trinity of Tank, Healer, and Damage Dealer. Instead of choosing a class in order to fill one of those roles, players are expected to choose one of Blade & Soul's seven classes based on how they want to play the game. For those having trouble telling one class from another, here's a quick rundown.
ArcheAge, a previously Asian-only MMORPG, has brought something to the western MMO world that has not often been seen - multiclassing. In ArcheAge, the class system revolves around players picking three different skill sets to create a wide array of different character builds. With ten different skill sets, this allows ArcheAge players to create over 100 different classes of characters. While players are urged to play with different skill sets to create a character that suits them, unfortunately not all class builds are created equal. Those who want to play competitively in PvP or dungeons will want a powerful build that brings useful utility while those who want to pursue the alluring, yet dangerous, pirate life of crime will want both power and tools to aid in escape as well as going undetected.
Mining is one of the gathering classes in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Mining and it's other gathering classes are all helpfully lumped up in the Disciples of the Land. The class guild for it is based out of the city Ul'Dah, it can only be found there. Unsurprisingly, the resource a miner gathers is ore which can be used for Blacksmithing, Armorer and Goldsmith classes to make gear. This class also generates secondary resources that are used by almost all other classes, making it worthwhile to level if you want to make some money.
Botany is one of the gathering classes in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Botany and it's other gathering classes are all helpfully lumped up in the Disciples of the Land. The class guild for it is based out of the city Gridania, it can only be found there. Surprising, while you would imagine Botanists gather all manner of herbs, it is mostly just logging. Botanists gather wood for the Carpenter class. However, wood is also used as a component in recipes for Leatherworkers, Tailors, Armorers and Blacksmithes. This class also generates secondary resources that are used by almost all other classes, making it worthwhile to level if you want to make some money.
It's that time again. It is a new year and thus there must be new installation into the seemingly immortal Call of Duty franchise. The latest game into the family is Call of Duty: Advanced Wars. Competitive first person shooter players have flocked to their controllers to play intense multiplayer matches where emotions are high and bullets (and controllers) are flying. Then there is me. A player only pulled into the franchise due to pure peer pressure, quite literally because "everyone else is doing it." Instead of competing, my aim is to make the most annoying, unfair, anger-inducing class builds of the game. I haven't been impressed with the past few COD games, but Advanced Warfare brought in several new and fun tools that I can use to be completely irritating with classic class builds.
I play a lot of Call of Duty, but it gets old after awhile. I mostly just play it to please my FPS-obsessed boyfriend. So after awhile of "run, shoot, run, shoot, run, run, die", the game needs a bit of spicing up. So I have prided myself on discovering the most annoying class combinations as possible to entertain myself. For those who have had enough of other people and demand vengeance, those who need to put a little spice into Call of Duty, or people who aren't that good at the game but enjoy pissing the hardcore players off here are some of the most utterly irritating class builds in Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Back from Fire Emblem: Awakening, players can yet again test out their eugenics skills by breeding their favorite fighters in hopes to have more competent children. However, this time around, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest have tweaked the way marriage and children work slightly (though the system is the same in both games. What's changed? Let's find out!
For gamers like myself, we don't have very many fond memories of Final Fantasy XIV when it was released back in 2010. It was fairly bad and a huge disappointment to Final Fantasy XI fans. The game, if you didn't have an absolutely top of the line PC, was extremely laggy. Though to be fair, some of that was from the server-side as well. Players were turned off not just by the lagging of the game, but the boring combat and story as well. So why go back after that huge nightmare? Well, obviously because they listened and learned over there at Square Enix. Now if only they would listen that Final Fantasy XIII was a terrible game as well.
Time to break out your booze and do a little tanking! This time you have a proper reason to other than your beloved leaving you because you spent your days getting drunk and playing World of Warcraft. With the introduction of the Pandarian race in World of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria they also introduced the new hybrid class of Monks. The tanking spec is called the Brewmaster who fights with the power of liquor.
If you thought choosing between two versions of Pokemon was impossible, the world is about to get much more difficult with the upcoming Fire Emblem Fates. Fates will be released in two versions - Birthright and Conquest - with each splitting into different storylines. While Fire Emblem Fates has been out in Japan for some time, both versions come to the west on February 19th and it is time to start think about which will get dibs on your precious $40 first.
While the graphics, combat system, and PvP in Blade & Soul are the real stars of the show, crafting and gathering is still a necessity.
Long-time Disgaea fans are likely cozily burrowed in their dens after being provided with enough strategy RPG gameplay to get them through the winter, but those new to the series looking to get into it after its debut on the PS4 may find it overwhelming. Overwhelming in the best possible way, of course, but still pretty daunting. While the story is long enough to enamour those that don't fancy any extra exploration in their gameplay, in Disgaea, to stick to the story is to miss out on half the game. There is a lot to do, and that is part of its charm. With a few easy tips, anyone can grasp the chaos that is Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance.
After the arguably disappointing Cataclysm expansion, World of Warcraft players are gearing up for the next one. Mists of Pandaria takes place primarily on the continent called Pandaria that was previously hidden by magic and mist. After Deathwings' Cataclysm, the mist began to clear and the island was discovered during a naval battle between the Alliance and Horde.
With all the other MMO's that have been released in the past year or two that had been advertised as 'WoW Killers' or 'World of Warcraft Killers', Guild Wars 2 at least had enough grace not to advertise itself as one. However, unlike Star Wars: The Old Republic, Aion, or Rift; Guild Wars 2 would have had a really decent chance.
True to its predecessor, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, when it comes to research and unlock opportunities in XCOM 2, you are spoiled for choice initially. With a number of research paths to choose from leading into the game's very first mission, there are a number of powerful paths available to you soon after starting the game. Deciding on which research to choose will ultimately determine what facilities, weapons, and equipment your soldiers have access to, which in turn will dictate your overall mission play style. This leads to some difficult decisions, but none more so than which will make you the best alien-slaughtering liberator of humanity the fastest.
You have read all the books, you have watched the past seasons eight hundred times and yet you still can't get enough of the Game of Thrones series. Over the long days between episodes or the even longer months between seasons of HBO's hit television show us ravenous fans need something to fill the time in between our adventures in Westeros. One can only watch the past season of Game of Thrones so many times before you can start reciting lines before they are said.
Final Fantasy XIV was a Final Fantasy based MMO by Square Enix that released in 2010. However, upon its launch, it had several major problems that made it unplayable for most people and causing it to be the worst disaster in Final Fantasy history. Square Enix realized that major changes needed to be made, so they ended what is now referred to as Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 in November 2012, by dropping a giant Bahamat filled moon on the world. Now in August 2013, Final Fantasy XIV is back anew in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
