When you work on a project you could easily create many types of files all for the same project. For finding all the files quickly it is a good idea to tag the files with the name of the project. You can also use multiple tags for instance if you want to be able to find sub sets of files. Here are a few options for file tagging in OSX. Houdahspot, Tagit, Default Folders and Hazel.
