Best Treadmills for Family

By Edited Dec 5, 2015 0 0

This guide on the best treadmills for family - highlights a selection of models that offers important treadmill aspects to a family such as being simple to use (with clear user LCD console interface), that is ultra safe for a range of ages (such as the kids & the elderly), offers a range of fitness programs (suitable for a range of fitness goals) & is highly durable etc. From the following range, you will hopefully find a model that perfectly suits you and your family's walking/jogging/running needs & preferences.

The TR1200i Folding Treadmill By LifeSpan

This is the model I would recommend most, simply on the exceptional value it offers with respect to its price tag. It is multi-award winning (Treadmill Doctor 'Best Buy' Award for Best New Treadmill, "Head of the Class" Best Treadmill under $1000 etc.) and highly regarded by owners & there is very good reasoning as to why - it is an awesome treadmill. Powered through a 2.5 HP motor - it allows you to run up to speeds of 11 mph with a maximum incline level of 15% (supporting users who weigh up to 300 lbs).

At the centre piece is the sophisticated (yet easy to navigate) console that provides you with all the relevant diagnostics (e.g. speed, distance travelled, calories burned, heart beats per minute etc.) & from which you can select a range of fitness programs that have been designed by leading health professionals. Moreover, it is practical too -- because it is able to fold up (39 by 66 by 33 inches), it saves on sapce in and around your home. In all, this is a fantastic machine that you should definitely check out -- besides it has to be a best selling treadmill for a reason.

The Power 995 Treadmill By ProForm

Another award winning treadmill is the Power 995 (or you can get the upgrade 995C - a brief comparison) -- which as the name suggests is a powerful machine with it being installed with a 3.0 CHP moro allowing for a range of speeds from 0 to 12 mph with the 0% to 15% incline control, similar to that of the TR1200i. It also, provides ProShox Elite 2 cushioning to keep a minimized impact on joints, allowing a more comfortable run & faster recovery time (and better for you in general for the future, especially for kids).

Moreover, it is literally packed with features: from being able to play your music & audiobooks through the built in speakers -- to being able to run on online courses through Google Maps, competing with other iFit Live members around the world (as well as being Nike + iPod compatible). Another aspect I really like is its integrated coolaire workout fan, which although other fans have, none quite give you the relaxing smooth cool air this one does. In all, an awesome treadmill that should also definitely be considered.

The 5.65 Folding Treadmill By Smooth Fitness

This model has been engineered and designed with rigidity & sturdiness at the forefront  -- in other words it was built to last (as backed by its lifetime warranty on the frame & motor) & with its console offering you "14 challenging programs" that test your fitness to the limit with very changes in speed & incline levels (with the 3 window LED where one tracks your speed, distance etc, the other your calories burned and the other your heart rate). Also, if you are after a particular "noise-free operation" then due to its Pulse Width Modulation system it is much quieter than your standard treadmill. A very decent treadmill for those who are on a bit more of a restricted budget.

The TR4000i Folding Treadmill By LifeSpan

If you really like on the TR1200i, however are looking more in the way of comfort & extra support for your joints - then the TR4000i could be perfect for you. It has an extended running deck in comparison with the TR1200i (by 4 inches) and has a re-configured biomechanical suspension system (with an extra 2 elastomers, making 8 in total) with an extra 1/4 inch phelonic deck (making a whole inch) -- in all this adds to the cushioning effect of the treadmill (reducing strain on your muscles, as well as improving recovery time potentially allowing you to 'go for longer').

Other improvements include: a marginal increase in top speed to 12 mph due to a more powerful 3.25 HP motor as well as coming with a chest strap (allowing you to run hands free, but the treadmill can register your heart rate). It can also hold a larger user -- up to 350 lbs. Apart, from this it largely remains the same e.g. you get a lifetime membership to the LifeSpan fitness group.

Which model will you choose & why? Remember...

ProImpact Treadmill Mat

You should invest in a protective treadmill to prevent damage to both your flooring as well as the actual treadmill itself. I recommend you get a mat such as the proven ProImpact, it should do more than a sufficient job. Be sure to look into getting some treadmill lubricant too, to keep it running smoothly.
