You may or may not have noticed, but we have been trying to make it more enticing for users to write articles that are at least 400 words.

So, to continue moving forward with this effort we have decided that under normal circumstances, articles that are under 400 words will not be listed in the ‘Latest Articles’ section.

Articles under 400 words will still be listed in the archive section located at the bottom of the site and will be placed in the appropriate categories by managers but with the exception of video articles, the front page will be limited to more lengthy content.  This will help ensure the site stays seen as a quality resource to the search engines which should help writers make more money.

Today was a big day for Info Barrel as after nearly a year of existence we finally have over a million words written.  If you are wondering exactly what that would look like if it was turned into a book, I’ll give you an example.  Your average sized encylopedia contains roughly 1.6 million words.

So over the last year, our loyal members have written more than half of an entire encylopedia!  With the pace we are at right now, we should have an entire encylopedia written by the end of July.

There was a bug in the system from some changes we made last week to the draft system that was preventing drafts that were created using the blank article template from be able to be published.  This has been fixed now.

Since the May Post-a-Thon contest has finished, its time to announce our contest for the Month of June.

June’s contest will be slightly similar to the May Post-a-Thon in that there will be different tiers for Adsense immpression sharing but there will also be an additional prize consisting of a $50 Amazon.com gift card for the person with the most points.

Whats different?

The point structure has changed a little bit to encourage people to write more in depth articles. So, like last month month, we are not limiting this contest to three winners. We are setting it up so that your Adsense share in July 2009 will be based on how much content you contribute.

Articles that are longer and include more in depth information will be rewarded with more points in the contest.

Most Points – $50 Amazon.com gift card plus corresponding revenue share for point level.
Achieve more than 30 points – 90% Adsense Revenue Share
Achieve more than 20 points – 85% Adsense Revenue Share
Achieve more than 15 points – 80% Adsense Revenue Share

2 Points – 800+ Words
5 Points – 1000+ words

May flew by extremely quickly but was another record month for Infobarrel.com

The May Madness Post-a-Thon was a huge success, pushing 14 members above the threshold for an increased share in the Adsense.

Since there were 14 members who had more than 15 points, I won’t list everybody here, however, I would like to give a shout out to the member who had the most points for the month of May.

This member came in with a total of 59 points, and was a consistant publisher over the entire month.

I would like to personally thank JCMayer777 for his 39 article contribution!

All the winner’s accounts have been adjusted to receive the increased Adsense impressions.
