Drug Rehab with No Insurance
Getting into drug rehab with no insurance can be tricky. But it can be done. It is unfortunate, but it is a reality, that drug and alcohol treatment centers are expensive. Many run more than $2000 a week, and some even cost more then $5000 a week. For most people the cost of drug rehab services would make them entirely unattainable. However, for most people health insurance covers the vast majority of this major cost.
Can I go to drug or alcohol rehab without insurance?
Getting drug rehab services when you do not have insurance means that you will have to fall back on a couple of less than desirable options. First, it is important that you understand that most rehab centers are for profit. That said, they are usually also operated by individuals who are in recovery from addictive behavior themselves. Typically such people are very generous and willing to help other addicts who are down on their luck and have no health insurance. It is in fact almost part of the twelve step program's tradition that they lend a hand to other alcoholics and addicts in need.
Such rehab centers often offer scholarships or charitable admittance to the rehab which they will then write off as a tax deductible expense. It is actually fairly common for drug and alcohol rehab centers to make such arrangements with people in need that have no way to pay. But, obviously, this is not the kind of arrangement that is in the rehab center's interest to advertisement. I mean you are not going to come across an ad that says, "If you have no insurance, come to our rehab for free!" for obvious reasons.
So it becomes up to the person to research various treatment centers and see what is available. Now, you must realize that beggars can not be choosers and some of the top rehabs in your area may not be willing to take you in under these circumstances. You will have to hit the pavement. However, if you are willing to go to a dozen rehab center's websites, it is likely that you will find one or two that will work with you.
The other option for people in need of drug rehab without health insurance is to see what options the state that you live is offering. Most states, though not all, offer decent free drug and alcohol rehabilitation services to their population. For instance, Washington state is well known for offering all citizens of Washington the chance to attend their government rehab free of charge. However, many states do not offer such services to all citizens free of charge. But nearly all states offer at least some kind of services for their citizens.
Getting drug rehab with no insurance will sometime mean that you have to attend such a rehab. Now, government run rehabs have gotten a bad rap for being little more than homeless shelters for alcoholics and drug addicts to go to when the weather gets cold. However, government funded drug rehab has probably saved thousands of lives and can probably help a great many addicts who find themselves in a predicament where they need rehab but don't have insurance.
The best advice for people in a dire need of free drug rehab (even if you do not have insurance) is to not lose hope. Even if you contact five rehabs and none of them have a bed, it could be the six one that will work with you. Even if your state doesn't offer substantial drug rehabilitation services or if there is a lengthy waiting list, never give up hope. An opening might present itself today.
Getting into a decent no insurance drug rehabs is a challenge, but it is not a game stopper. Perseverance and determination can help a person get the help that they need.
