2017 Philtrate UPDATE
AJ's 5 Currency idea made a big impact on me. Everything I have done since has revolved around that idea.
Reminder: Spend your TIME growing your KNOWLEDGE and use that to help others and to grow your REPUTATION. Others will see you are someone they want to stay in touch with and your list of CONTACTS will grow. A few of those contacts will give you MONEY to work for/with them.
Every cent I have earned over the past 7 years has come from contacts I have made in this way.
I have been mostly writing for payments, though I work with a few people IRL and am setting up a support group for business owners/entrepreneurs that will serve them in the same way this IB forum has helped me.
Bumping to knock spam off the top slot
This is a good reminder for everyone who wants to make money by writing on the internet. I think we learned a lot from AJ, Godfather, Sookie, you and so other people who were helpful on this forum over the years.
These are the reasons why my retirement blog, baby-boomer-retirement.com, has done so well, and why MommyMommyMommy continues to do well with her Girl Scout blog.
We all need to learn as much as possible about something we care about, and then specialize in writing about it. This approach really does make a difference.
(Thanks, Phil, for bumping this to keep the spam off the top of the forum. I hope others will bump other posts for the same reason.)
Totally agree! Finding something you really care about, makes it easier to write online. You don't have to spend the money on expensive hosting to begin with, even a free blog platform can make you money. I have a blogger blog that does well.
I am entering my 10th year as a Girl Scout leader and the topic does not bore me at all! I have learned so much over the years while I was leading and writing. I am still passionate about it and my daughter is going to stay in Scouts until she graduates. I have five blogs/websites all about Girl Scouts. I update my sites twice a year and my two active blogs have new posts 4-6 times a month.
Who knew all those years ago I would still be writing about something from my "mommy" days at home?
