iPad Review
Apples iPad is one of those electronic gadgets that has stoked the interest of many computer geeks ever since it was announced at one of those "fancy shmanzy" press conferences headed as usual by Apple computers CEO Steve Jobs in late January of this year. Whether the iPad is a good product especially for the price is something we will have to wait and see when it becomes available to the public in the middle of March, this year. So for now all we have to go by is what has been published on paper, so let's look at specs.
Some folks may consider the specs a little bit under done and look at the iPad as a half baked item. After all iPad is a miniature computer. There are other small hand held computers available out there from other manufacturers and from those we know that this type of device is good for some simple and basic computing work. It is not designed for multitasking and doing heavy duty computer related work. From the specs we will have to assume the iPad will be no different. Because of these short comings an industry is springing up to provide the iPad with different accessories.
If you want to view photos that you may have on your portable hard drive you will have to get an optional dock that will give you a USB port because the iPad does not have any built in. For some this may be a minor inconvenience. The iPad does not support flash so if you want to visit some of your favorite sites to see a show it may not be possible. If you enjoy the ability to multitask such as playing your favorite music while doing some internet browsing then it will not be possible with the iPad. The touch screen is great for some light typing but if you are planning on any heavy duty typing then you may want to look into buying an iPad Bluetooth keyboard.
As we know laptops can be folded after use. This automatically will protect the screen from any abuse. The iPad on the other hand is open or "naked" at all times. This will require you to do some babysitting while you carry it around. But there are plenty of covers for the iPad or cases that are water, dust and shock proof that you will be able to get for added protection. Last but not least it will have the iPhones operating system, which means you can think of the iPad as an iPhone after steroids.
