Is Email Marketing Considered Spam?

Business owners generally need to bring on a professional marketing expert in order to successfully establish a campaign of any sort, and not just anyone will do if the advertising is to be successful. Ad campaigns need to be not only well-crafted, but original and effective.

After all, what’s the use of an ad campaign that no one sees, let alone pays attention to? It’s important to discover ways to reach a target audience that is likely in engage with your product or service, or at least be interested in your company in the future. Finding those people is an essential first step to marketing, and needs to happen even before the first bits of marketing material go out into the world. Above any sort of marketing technique, mailed newsletters and coupons, TV ads - email is the favored medium.

It’s no wonder that email is so popular among marketers. It’s inexpensive and more effective than any other sort of method out there! And if done right, email marketing can bring a company a huge amount of business. And yet, some people stay away from email marketing, believing it to be too close to SPAM for comfort. This is unfortunate, as there are clear distinctions between email marketing and SPAM. Here are some of the ways in which you can guarantee that your emails far into the realm of marketing, instead of junk mail. 

  • It’s extremely important to curate your list of recipients before you begin your marketing campaign. Make sure that you have created a list of recipients that is relevant to your company, deal, or product. A great way to do this is by having people sign up for emails after they have already ordered something from you, or perhaps engaged with you through some sort of social network. Emailing people without their consent is very SPAM-like.
  • Make sure that there is an easy way for people to unsubscribe from your emails if they want to. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you are losing their business, and people have a right to control what ends up in their inbox. If you don’t make it easy for people to unsubscribe, they may become irritated and report you as SPAM, even if you aren’t, in essence.
  • Be sure to design your emails in such a way that all the graphics and links work well and properly! There is nothing that makes your emails look more like SPAM than a shoddy layout. 

Email marketing can be a wonderful way to get the word out about your company, product, or service. Make sure that you do the proper things to ensure that you are not coming across as SPAM to the rest of the world. It would be a shame to lose out on the benefits of email marketing just because of a silly mistake!
