mold and mildew removal using vinegar
There are a number of household cleaning concoctions that work fairly well to remove mold and mildew, and they are pretty popular. Some examples include Pine-Sol, Lysol, or diluted mixtures of other cleansers. There are even numerous expensive solutions that you can get from your local drug or hardware stores which aren't very safe for you and your family, and leave behind nasty chemical odors that are even worse than Pine-Sol or Lyson. Who needs that? Even though these mold and mildew removal methods work, the smell they leave behind will haunt you long after you've finished cleaning.
One cost-efficient method for removing mold and mildew is white vinegar; and the great thing about white vinegar is that you don't need excellent ventilation to use it. Maybe this sounds too good to be true, but it's honestly the best mold and mildew removal method that I've ever come across. If the mold and mildew is especially strong, you can even use undiluted vinegar on it. For lighter mold and mildew stains, mix one part water per one part of your cleaner of choice; the darker the stain is, the more cleaner, you should add. Start by spraying from the top of the surface, and then move down, letting any excess cleanser run down the surface for more effective cleaning. Let the cleanser settle in for just a few minutes before spraying it down once more. After that, you can use a dry cloth to wipe down the surface.
This mold and mildew cleaning method doesn't just work for canvas. It can also work on furniture, plastic, paint, tile, or anywhere else that you might find mold or mildew in your home - even the clothes that you wear. Vinegar is color safe, and won't damage or fade your clothes or other possessions. But the best thing about vinegar is that it won't leave behind any long lasting, nasty chemical odors - which is important for you and your family's health.
