Different Options for a p90x Recovery Drink Alternative

For those looking for a p90x recovery drink alternative, there are many options available.  What you are looking for is a combination of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants.  This can be achieved by buying a different brand of recovery drink, making your own with natural foods, or consuming a beverage that you don't need to prepare, such as milk.  I highly recommend making your own post workout drink using fresh fruits and vegetables.  It has been my p90x recovery drink alternative since I started these workouts and I'm very happy with the results.

Make Your Own Version of the p90x Recovery Drink Formula
Personally, this is what I've been doing since I bought p90x two year ago, and I've gotten tremendous results.  My version includes using natural foods, along with a little whey protein isolate, to make a delicious exercise recovery drink.

All you need is some fresh fruits, vegetables, protein powder (alternatives could be using nuts or seeds), and something to blend it all together.  I use the NutriBullet to make my post workout drink and it works great.  There aren't any wasted parts of the foods, and it blends all of the ingredients into a smooth beverage.  Please read this review if you're curious about the NutriBullet.

My main goal when making an exercise recovery drink is to get the essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants through natural foods.  My favorite recipe is:

*2 handfuls of baby spinach
*1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries)
*1 banana
*1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
*1/2 scoop of whey protein isolate powder (please adjust based on your strength goals)

I blend all of those ingredients up and it results in a great tasting smoothie that's full of vitamins, antioxidants, and phytochemicals.  The great thing is, you can substitute different fruits and vegetables based on your personal preferences.  I always try to use some type of leafy green vegetable, whether it be spinach, romaine lettuce, collard greens, or kale.

Another p90x recovery drink alternative that I use is:

*2 handfuls of chopped romaine lettuce
*1/2 cup blueberries
*1/2 cup chopped peaches
*1 scoop of whey protein powder
*1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

Goal of Your Post Workout Drink
The goal of your post workout drink is to make sure it contains protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, and antioxidants.  When you strength train, your muscle fibers tear and break down, and they need to be repaired once your workout is completed.  This is what your exercise recovery drink needs to accomplish, it needs the essential nutrients to repair your muscles.  The best time to do this is within 30 minutes of completing your workout, because your muscles are broken down and ready to accept the nutrients.

Another option for those who don't want to spend money on the p90x recovery formula, or don't want to take the time to make your own post workout drink, is chocolate milk.  It has a good combination of protein, carbohydrates, and sugar to help replenish your muscles.

Personally, the best post workout drink I've had are the ones I make with fresh fruits and vegetables.  They taste great and contain many essential nutrients, antioxidants, and phytochemicals that are important in maintaining a healthy body, as well as promoting muscle growth.  In my opinion, it's the p90x recovery drink alternative that produces the best results.
