Paris is the city of your dreams!
Let's Get Sightseeing!
There's more to it than cheese and wine
Being a cultural capital of the world, Paris has much to offer anyone and everyone. Whether you are looking to eat some of the best food of your life, see the famous architecture, or just relax...Paris has it all. This list of things to do in Paris will serve as your guide as you are swept along 'les grands rues.' So here we go!
The Eiffel Tower
Debatably the most famous structure in the whole world, the Eiffel Tower, or the 'iron lady' as the French may say, has been towering over the Parisian skyline since the 1889 World's Fair. The structure itself is 1,063 feet tall which is the equivalent of an 81-storey building. It is THE cultural icon of France as well as the most visited paid monument in the world. Millions of people come from all over the world to take the trip to the top every year. For visitors, the tower has 3 levels. Levels 1 and 2 are accessible by stairs, but to get to the top you'll have to take the elevator. If heights are not your thing, well then, you just have to swallow your fear because the view is something that you do not want to miss!
Take a Walk!
That's right, a walk. Arguably one of the best walks in Paris or Europe in general is down the Champs Elysees, where the trendiest and most chic shops are located. A good starting point for this walk is the Arc de Triomphe. Before starting go to the top of the Arc to check out the view, and your breath will be taken away. But beware--there are a few hundred stairs to the top. You may be forced to increase your heart rate for a few minutes but you'll be more than satisfied when you look out from the top. From the Arc, walk down the Champs Elysees being sure to pop your head in a few stores to see the latest trends. At the end of the street, you will come to the Place de la Concorde, and continuing a little further, you will arrive at the famous museum the Louvre. You know you are there when you see the giant glass pyramids. If you have a chance, head inside and check out such famous paintings as the Mona Lisa.
Take a Break and Have a Crepe!
After walking around for a few hours there's nothing better for an empty stomach than a good Parisian Crepe. Crepes are thin and delicate pancakes which can be filled with virtually anything. You can find vendors all over the city who can whip you up a crêpe within seconds, and you will be amazed at the way they make them and the skill that the process requires. Anything from chocolate, jam, fruit, Nutella, honey (well you get the idea) can be put inside.
The Cathedral Notre Dame
Notre Dame de Paris is considered one of the best examples of French Gothic Architecture in all of Europe. It's sculptures and stained glass are definitely something to marvel at. Construction began around 1163, so you will definitely be taking a step back in time. Take the time to soak up the sheer magnitude of the building, and I can guarantee that you will be awed!
