The turnabout of a heart patient on Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a modality that can be effective for patients with cardiovascular problems according to many experts who use and trust this modality. For the sceptics, it has no place in treating something as common as high blood pressure. The most popular drugs taken at the moment are for high blood pressure. The general Medical consensus is that the cause of elevated blood pressure in over 90% of the cases is unknown. Drugs with a nasty string of side effects are given anyway. In some cases more drugs are needed to treat the insomnia, headaches, fever, rashes and impotence.

An experienced Homeopath follows the advice of Hippocrates: "Rather consider the patient who has the disease and not the disease the patient has." An interview with a Homeopath will delve into many symptoms, unique to the patient and it is uncanny how they seem to suit somebody who has a specific array of chronic cardiovascular (and mind-based) problems. Here is the story of Joette Calabrese, a highly qualified Homeopath who treated her father with Homeopathic remedies after many years of conventional treatment by cardiologist had failed. He had been on a low-fat high carbohydrate diet - including bread and baby aspirin. He was on a lot of medications and had already suffered from a few heart attacks.

"How Dad Outlives Them All With Homeopathy"

Joette's story is published by the Weston A. Price Foundation and is worth reading. Briefly it describes over a period of about 14 years the mainstream treatment her father was given for heart problems. During this time six of the doctors died by the age of 70. Her father was then told by the remaining doctor that he needed bypass surgery to survive, but the doctor died of a heart attack in the meantime. So, Joette finally convinced him to try her treatment. He was not willing to even consider the second opinion but she gently persuaded him to begin with a more nutrient dense diet and include more protein, a healthy pat of butter and some olive oil. Her dietary advice is based on WAPF (Weston A Price Foundation) guidelines for good nutrition.

At first he objected to gradually displacing all his medications but the thought of having blood vessels ripped from his legs and grafted into his heart that convinced him to rather trust his daughter, the Homeopath. Now in his healthy and hearty 80's his condition is well-managed. There is no need for any of the medications he had been taking. All he does is suck a few little pills under his tongue from time to time. So elegant is the medicine that it corrects the underlying cause and somehow the body does the rest. Even if we don't fully understand how this is done we can see the evidence.

Homeopathic treatment for the specific heart conditions:

1. Arnica montana 3 or 6x, twice daily

2. Magnesium phosphoricum 6x, twice daily

3. Crataegus mother tincture, 5 drops, twice daily

4. Secale cornutum 30, twice daily

Adjusted as needed:

5. Digitalis 30 twice daily

6. Aurum arsenicum 200 C, every 30 minutes in an emergency, followed by twice daily for months until the emergent setting clears

7. Arnica montana 200 C, every 30 minutes alternating with Aurum arsenicum 200 C in cardiac emergency.

Digitalis (Fox Glove) as a conventional versus a homeopathic remedy

Digitalis is used in conventional cardiovascular drugs in what Homeopaths call the gross form as opposed to a homeopathic dilution. Thus it often causes side effects. In Homeopathy the more “effective” a drug is in suppressing symptoms, the more likely it is to cause damaging side effects. Digitalis (foxglove) is a poisonous plant. Poisonous substances ultimately make the best homeopathic remedies, because when highly diluted and potentized, they become powerful medicines. (They treat like with like) The drug industry uses the original plant to formulate a synthetic version in the manufacture of the prescription drug called Digoxin.

Digitalis symptom picture (the undiluted drug)

These are side effects of digitalis  poisoning:

The pulse is slow, but primarily strong,

There is great weakness of the cardiac tissue

The pulse becomes weak. Extra exertion increases its rapidity, but diminishes its force, so that the quick pulse becomes irregular and intermittent. This irregular intermittency is a marked symptom. The heart feels as if the blood stood still.

There is weakness and numbness of the left arm and often blueness of the surface of the body, or  (Turning blue)

The patient fears that the heart will stop beating if they move. This uneasy feeling about the chest rarely causes pain.

Digitalis at higher potencies is used for:

Dr. A.L. Blackwood in Diseases of the Heart says of homeopathic Digitalis: “It relieves the palpitations and lessens nocturnal urination.” This is an extract from a Homeopathic Materia Medica on Digitalis "Disturbed sleep, apprehensiveness, deep sighing, slow respiration, dry cough, suffocative spells. Atrial arrhythmias: sick sinus syndrome, atrial fibrillation or flutter. Symptoms may be caused by an irregular distribution of the blood. Digitalis is also indicated in dropsical conditions dependent on heart trouble, swelling of feet and ankles, cardiac dropsy associated with slow pulse, urine suppressed or scanty. There is fear that the heart will stop beating. For inflammation of the heart muscle approaching insidiously and in sudden cases of myo-or endo-carditis with the symptoms above outlined. The first noticeable benefit is a steadier heart’s action and an increased flow of urine. To use it in strong doses for a long time will render the patient incurable."

Cardiovascular Homeopathic "Materia Medica"

Homeopathy is a modality that can be effective for patients with cardiovascular problems and can help to treat many of the symptoms. The system uses sugar-based pills or ethanol-based tinctures that have potencies that can be chosen to suit the needs of the patient's exact condition. They are similar to tissue salts.

Homeopathic remedies are based upon the unique yet related symptoms of an individual. In the case of brain strokes or heart attacks the mental symptoms can give one a good idea of how the patient may be affected. Research into symptom pictures can be of great benefit and the Homeopathic Materia Medica and Repertory will provide some interesting insights. When addressed with an appropriate remedy many outlying symptoms can be treated at the same time - because often they have the same cause.
